Description

Five years in the making, Amy Irene Strong completed this structure in the small town of Ramona, 45 minutes from downtown, in 1921. The unique Craftsman-style 12,000-square-foot dwelling was originally designed by Strong herself, a prominent San Diego socialite and dress designer. Owned by many throughout the years, it is now the property of Mt. Woodson Golf Club and serves as a frequent site for weddings and special events. Also known as the Amy Strong Castle, this building is now used as the administration office and can be viewed during operating hours.

I lived there!

Wow - I lived there in the 80's and it was haunted! I had horses and the acreage was a big pasture that the golf course is now on. All of my furniture fit into one of the massive bedrooms there. I am sure the ghosts have moved on by now, but they kept me awake at night!

This was a great place to live in college!!!

I lived here for almost a year in college at San Diego State. Awesome. There were no other houses at the time and no golf course. It was still way out in the country. I lived there alone and had some great parties there too. Wonderful place to entertain. I wish i could buy it now for my wife and 8 kids to live in! Beautiful! The year of visit option only goes back to 2005. i was there in 1981/1982.

Fantastically Spiritual

I can't wait to go back, love the horoscope designs, rock pictographs, and the fact that Helen Hunt Jackson, Mrs.Winchester,Emily Dickinson,Amy Strong and a few others used to meet here once or twice a year in a special room, I am of Dutch descent and hope to get a special invite, the other day I met a man that looked almost identical to the Owner of Villa Montezuma(Historical Home) in San Diego! A Spirit too!! With very large eyes!!....Can't forget the most beautiful gardens that encircle this Dutch Wonder of a Castle.Historically Huge in my Book!! E.A.Zellner(Mussey Grade Rd.)
