Oceanside Municipal Golf Course, Oceanside

An acceptable muni course for the discount/weekend golfer. I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers were expecting, but Oceanside doesn't really disappoint (or impress) in any way. The course is in okay condition, but the greens occasionally are a little rough. There is some nice variation in the course layout, as the course starts in a riverbed and butts right up against the Camp Pendelton base in the hills. Some very nice/challenging elevation holes on the back nine. Pace of play CAN be really slow, but as I stated at the beginning, pretty much standard for a municipal course. Course is a little bit inland and not THAT close to the ocean (so it can get warm when the marine layer burns off), but the weather is usually very nice. Kind of the north county's version of Mission Trails down in the central part of the city.

Our foursome started on the back 9 and had a two hour delay at the turn because we had made our resv's thru golfnow and were told they always go to the back of the line. Unbelievable! The next 4 holes took 2 hours so we left. Unbelievable! This course sucks. Skip it!

location not far from ocean weather is usually great. The recently raised their rates dramatically. Non resident seniors used to pay less than $30 now $40! Plenty of other local couses as good or better for less. I noticed a big drop off in the number of players last time there.

I love this golf course, the people that work there are very nice and helpful, and every 2nd and third Saturday of the month, they have golf lessons for kids for only $5, taught by a PGA pro, you cannot ask for a better deal for your money.
