Coronado Island

Description

Connected by a thin sandy strip of land to the mainland, Coronado is technically not an island at all, but the island retreat attitude pervades every inch of it. It may be accessed by foot ferry, the toll-free Coronado Bay Bridge or up the Silver Strand peninsula. Leafy, quiet streets lined with perfectly appointed homes resembling gingerbread houses comprise half the island. The other half is home to the Naval Air Station North Island that provides carrier parking for most of the Pacific Fleet. Enjoy walking the broad, mile-long sandy beach crowned by the Victorian splendor of the Hotel del Coronado .

Thanksgiving Dinner at Peohe's
By ,
After reading all the reviews I was jazzed about going, I should have known, Food was very poor, Turkey very dry and there where quite a few bones in the turkey. I had to drown in extra gravy to eat and then they charged me $5.00 for extra gravy, After my wife lost her apatite the manger never came over, My son asked for bbq sauce and got a-1 sauce for chicken strips come to find out they didn’t even have bbq sauce, Even though when my son ordered he stated that if they didn’t have bbq sauce then he wanted something else. They made him wait for the meal and then served a-1 sauce, then made him wait another 20 minutes for mac and cheese and still no mangier. After asking for the manager while I was talking to him about the issues he rolled his eyes and said he was sorry but it wasn’t his fault, He didn’t care about any issues. He should not be the mangier of a restraint. Peohe's SUCKS

Love this place
By ,
If you are looking for a great atmosphere to have a romantic vacation, this is it! There is so much to do, from a relaxing walk down Orance Ave, to laying on the beach. The town is exceptionally clean, everyone is friendly, and wow.

Great little place!
By ,
We stayed for 2 days before our cruise. If you want to stay somewhere slow and relaxing, this is the place to be, small town atmosphere just outside and seperated from the city. Beautiful beaches and Del Coronado Hotel is just as beautiful.

Ken Simmons -- Born here, great as ever!
By ,
Was born here -- Even though I was only 2, I can still remember when the sailors returned from WWII. Golf course is now where I lived at that time -- Hotel del Coronado as beautiful as ever. Great place to visit -- it gets better, but it never changes!!!

Romantic Getaway
By ,
Coronado is wonderful little getaway place when visiting San Diego. Take the bridge over, stay an evening if you can...vist the beach, downtown shops, restaurants, the local Theatre and of course the "Del"!

Neat little place!
By ,
It's a nice little drive out, on a road surrounded by ocean if you come from the Imperial Beach side. Once you get there, exploring is best done on foot, as the roads are all 2 lanes & parking is all parallel & hard to find.

The beach is lovely! It's a nice beach to visit at night if you're just looking for a quiet place to enjoy the ocean. Shops seem to be more on the pricier side, but there's a lot of interesting stuff to check out. We spent some time driving around the neighborhoods as well. We had heard (from a boat tour guide) that all the houses on Coronado had to be designed differently from each other, which gives the neighborhoods an interesting feel, with all the one-of-a-kind bungalows with their manicured lawns and all in various colors.

Okay
By ,
Coronado is fun for an hour or two. There isn't much to do down there. Couple of touristy souvenier stores. The beaches are overcrowded and not the best of San Diego. I would not reserve a whole day to spend in coronado.

Great Coronado Website to Help Guide You
By ,
I love Coronado and learned mostly about it from eCoronado.com. I found my hotel, a place to eat and even a cool postcard. Enjoy the island in the summer especially.
