Lake Poway is home to a dozen outdoor recreational opportunities including picnic grounds, playgrounds, and over three miles of trails for hiking and riding, all open daily. The lake only allows rental boats, but a variety of rowboats, sailboats, pedal boats and motorboats are available. Those hoping to catch a few fish may also partake. Trout are planted on a weekly basis during the winter season, and catfish during summer, when night fishing is permitted. With a mere 500 feet elevation, this lake is popular for families, individuals and large groups. A fee is charged for parking.
Lake Poway is not a very big or well known lake but those that do know keep it's secret close to the vest. There are some big large mouth bass in this lake and they are active all year. Fishermen and women you need to check this lake out. Additionally, they get some great rainbow trout from Nebraska. They fight hard and are pinker than a lot of salmon. Best of all, it is cheap and you do not need a CA State Fishing Liscence. Sweet lake with a cozy feel.
