Urban Peace
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/08
Lake Jennings camping park is located close in to busy city life , but it has been a great get away for me and my family. This county run park offers urban camping for a great price $20 per night with utilies WOW. Park is well maintained and offers wonderful lake views for $15 a night We feel safe camping w/ county park rangers on duty. If you have never camped at a San Diego county park I suggest you try it. 5 STARS txs PJ

One visit was too many
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/06
The bathroom area where campers can take showers were filthy and had been that way for at least four hours. I went up to the ranger station where two rangers were talking about personal things and told them the bathrooms were a big mess. One of them told me they did not have the "Manpower" to get to it like they would like. I asked the ranger why he was standing around doing nothing if the manpower wasn't available? He had no answer. I will never go to that campsite again and I encourage you to go there to camp if you want a bad experience. While I was there seeing how lazy those rangers are, my trip was disappointing because I had to think about how my tax dollars were going to waste.

Wonderful experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/06
This is without a doubt the quietest campground we've ever experienced. The grounds are meticulously kept and the latrine and shower facilities are very clean. The staff is helpful, polite and knowledgeable. To top it all off, what a value for camping, when you consider the high price of State Parks, and private campgrounds such as KOA. Don't expect any amenities like a camp store or games/TV rooms. This is quiet camping at its best.

My Best Camping Trip!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/05
My boyfriend and me found Lake Jennings Country Park on a search we did for campsites found in San Diego. We had been planning for a weekend getaway for some time, so we finally agreed for Lake Jennings and made reservations for June 17-19. The drive there was pretty hectic; leaving from Los Angeles during traffic hours on Friday can be a pain. But when we finally made it there, I knew this weekend was going to be great. As soon as you enter the park grounds the first thing you see is the lake. The lake is huge! We checked in (the rangers are so nice) and we set up tent, had dinner and took a walk. They have nature trails that lead to the lake and all around. So we went back to our campsite had a bite to eat, took a shower (oh yeah forgot the showers, they have toilets also. lol.). Saturday morning I woke up to realized I had left my promise ring; my boyfriend had just given me the day before in the showers. I cried uncontrollably. Following breakfast we decide to go fishing. While passing by the ranger’s station my boyfriend asked the ranger if anybody had tuned in a diamond solitaire, and he said, “Yes, as a matter of fact they did”. I couldn’t believe it. A guy in site #8 had turned it in last night. I promised to go by site #8 when we were back from fishing to thank him. When we got to the lake we rented a motorboat (Only $40.00/full-day). We fished for about 3 hours and although we didn't catch anything it was a nice experience...it was my first time open water fishing and I got a great tan. While turning in the boat the ranger convinced us on coming back and night to "night fish" since we had the boat rented for the whole day, although I was a bit scared we agreed to. "Night fishing ends at 11:45pm, just make sure you bring your lantern”, the ranger said. Like I had promised we passed by site #8 to thank the person that turned in my ring, but he was not there. However, I did leave a note and promised to come by later or before we left the next day. We returned back to our site and had a bite to eat, took a nap and woke up around 9pm and went night fishing. During night fishing we didn't catch anything either but it seemed like everyone else was. Lol. Night fishing was pleasant although a little too chilly. The next morning was the best. After a well-rested night we woke up to birds chirping and cottontails hoping under the trees' dry leaves. We had breakfast and starting bringing the tent down and putting everything away. We left Lake Jennings Sunday around noon and headed home. I will recommend Lake Jennings to anybody that just needs that “getaway”. It’s close to the city, and it will be a great place to take kids…they have a great playground! We already made plans to go back in a couple of weeks. I have told many people about Lake Jennings and many of them have talked about going soon.
