Seaforth Boat Rentals, San Diego

I feel bad giving a one-star rating overall, because the boat was a 3-star, but the customer service is a MINUS FIVE (-5)! See YELP! for reviews from other customers. The boat ride was enjoyable, except for the few times when the breeze caused the umbrella to tilt. I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be (yield with the wind??) or if we just got a bad one (we were told boat is due for a few repairs, including the BBQ and control stick). The umbrella tilted so much that the first couple of times, we seriously thought it would knock somebody's head, or even break off and smash us if the wind were strong enough! Eventually, though, we got used to it. Other than that, the occasional breeze was nice, and the guy at the dock was very helpful. The kids enjoyed it enough that we considered coming back for Sea World's fireworks. However, any good feelings was completely killed during check-out. They successfully turned what could have been a positive repeat experience into a very uncomfortable one by refusing to give me copies of anything that I've signed or agreed to, and then followed that with some of the worst customer service attitudes. You know, if you read all the reviews here, the only ones that sound authentic and NOT written by the guy who owns this place are the negative reviews. All the positive reviews sound like cheezy commercials, You can just tell. The positive reviews are the antithesis of the negative. In every way. The include lots of points, almost a play by play of the fabulous experience they had. Like they wanted to be sure to include a variety of fun aspects of the day on the jetski. They read like I'm being sold something. A commercial. Another clue is the lack of real enthusiasm in the positive reviews. They have enthusiam, but its forced, not real like the negative reviews. Anyway, thats my thought on the thing. I've never been to this place, & for all I know they ARE fantastic. But - I kinda doubt it. Theres a common thread running through the negative ones, and that is usually an indication of something! But, maybe you should judge for yourself... I dunno. And yes , I DID have a lotta time on my hands tonight! Just felt like including my $0.02 worth. I've seen this type of thing a hundred times before on other reviews of places....its pretty commnon. This time, I just called 'em on it! Have a good day.....

Their customer service reps. are extemely rude. They say a 30 min.review talk before you can ride is needed but if people are in front of you, you could wait hrs ( 30 times the # of ppl in front of you)! We waited and waited!Eventually (half the day gone) we rented 2 wave runners in hopes that the 4 boys could switch out during that hr. To switch out a worker must be on the dock but never shows up! When he did finally showed up ( 40 min.into it) he yelled at the boys to get away from the dock! Only 2 boys were able to ride ruining our family day out. So..... we thought, maybe just a bad day so we tried again, this time sailing.( with a motor in case there was no wind) Again, terrible customer service, rude and arrogant) The boat was also is terrible condition! We thought the compus was a broken light it was so badly scratched you couldn't see the dial, the plug was missing letting water into the boat and the motor gave us trouble from the start. The motor was screwed down so that we couldn't lift it out of the water when we cleared the 5 mile zone. And then to make matters worse, it took ten mins to get it to run and then we ran out of gas (They had not filled the tank) trying to get back which increased our time and money. Don't waste your time and money!

I have rented from Seaforth Boat Rentals four times now. I always go for the early bird special of getting 1 1/2 hours for just $99 on a jetski. Our experience has always been delightful, the waverunners always run well and we have no complaints. My wife and I have tried other rentals in San Diego, but we will stick with Seaforth Boat Rentals from now on due to the service and great experiences we have had with them.

We rented from the Mission Bay location and had a great time. The staff was friendly, the boat was new, the price was reasonable and we had a great time. We can't wait to do it again!

My wife and I went To Seaforth for a boat. They add on a 14% fuel surcharge which comes to $28.00 bucks extra for a 2 hour rental on a two seater motor boat. I questioned if I would use that much extra gas even with fuel prices. They seemed annoyed that I even questioned them. In addition they have raised their base rate by 10 to 15 percent annually. They are a tourist trap rip off. We made the right decision and walked away. With tax we would have paid just under $250.00 for 2 hours in a very small motor boat. Instead we had a great dinner at a top notch restaurant that night and still had a ton of money left ever. Our advice skip the rip off boat rentals. There are many other great things to do in San Diego.

Me and my family went out wakeboarding with Seaforth Boat Rentals. Jeton and Murphy were great, very patient and good with the kids. Both of them got up and rode without too many tries. I highly recommend this to anybody interested in wakeboarding.

My cousins and I finally chose this place among others around San Diego, and left with no regrets. We did not have a lot of money and decided that 2 jet skis for 2 hours each would be enough for the six of us. They were AWESOME! The lifeguards and Seaforth don't allow you to ride fast out of the docks of course, until you get to the bay where you can go as fast as you like. We switched off between pair and single rides, and for our last ride, we rode three on each jet ski. It was the most intense, adrenaline-filled experience I've ever had, and probably the same for my cousins. It was even fun falling in the water! Don't forget that you need about 25 minutes going to and from the bay. The employees are nice but it makes you a little uneasy signing for all the responsibilities with renting the jet skis. We are definitely planning to go again soon. Have fun but just be careful.

My family and I rented a boat from seaforth boat rental. We had an amazing time. The employees were extremely helpful and nice. We went out from Mission Bay and enjoyed it so much that the next day we decided to rent a boat from Seaforth Coronado. The second was even better than the first. We had a great time and I would highly recommend it.

We go to Seaforth Boat Rentals every time we visit San Diego from Arizona. The boats are always newer and in good shape. We like Mission Bay the best for wakeboarding and jetskis. The employees are helpful and nice. Highly recommended!
