Coronado Municipal Golf Course, Coronado

The price is very good and the scenery is beautiful but this was the slowest most painful round of 9 Holes of golf I have ever played!! So painful we did not even play the back 9. Course management of the pace of play was terrible. They were sending groups out every 10 minutes. Most people walk the course and there are a lot of beginners out there. If you are a decent golfer I would not recommend it. Riverwalk is a much better choice. A little more expensive but worth the additional $$$.

Coronado Golf Course offers the Best "Bang for the Buck" in the San Diego area. The staff is okay and certainly not over friendly. Play can be very slow. The clubhouse is having water problems,so the bathrooms are pot a potties on a trailer in the front of the club house. Also none of the water fountains on the course worked except the ones near the #12 green. The course is wonderful however. Strategic bunkers are in appropriate places for those trying to cut corners and the greens and fairways are in good condition (excellent for a muni). It's a fun course you will want to play again and again.

i play in Arizona on courses that are desert in nature so this course is completely different. It's really a special course with beautiful views and very challenging. The ball carries much farther in the desert so your club selection has to reflect the climate. The main objection I have is that particularly during peak times, play can be extremely backed up so allow close to a 5 hour round. I love to play here and wish I could more often.

I first played this course in 1999 as a tourist in San Diego. While the course was not real long, it did offer a good challenge to the average Joe (read that 99% of us). I played behing 4 guys in their late 70's who still had enough game going to keep my foursome on pace. I now reside in San Diego and this is my favorite course of all. It is affordable, flat (a rarity in S.D.) and a test of shotmaking ability. This is also the favorite of most locals I have spoken with. Play it and enjoy. Try and concentrate on the game though, not the views of the area, Navy jets and SEALS.
