Little Italy Tours
San Diego's rich Genoese and Sicilian history is explored in a flavorful way on this guided tour through the Little Italy district. Guests enjoy an Italian lunch and dessert, hear about Little Italy during the Prohibition era and discover the miracle that named a Little Italy church. The leisurely-paced walk also shows Italian gardens and Sicilian bread-making. Reservations are required and the tours are offered around the year on Saturdays only.
Today our church group took a tour of Little Italy, culminated by a feast of Italian food at Filippi's restaurant. Led by Anthony Davi, the tour was marvelous!!! Anthony was a supurb leader, full of facts and interesting "turns of the phrases". We ALL loved every minute of it! I heard one person, who had just returned from a tour of Italy, say that Anthony was the "best tour leader" he had ever experienced.
I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour of Little Italy. Anthony Davi is an eloquent and knowledgeable tour guide, whose delivery is steeped in local color.
This tour is grass roots and covers the arrival of Italians from Italy to San Diego, wine-making in America, prohibition, organized crime and the protection racket, the influence of the Catholic Church on the community, etc. etc.
A wonderful tour led by an upbeat, knowledgeable, and professional tour guide, Anthony Davi.
