Joe N Andy's Hole in the Wall is hidden among the dusty antique stores of La Mesa Village. The pub is decorated by numerous murals by local artists and features free live music on weekends. The Bands are like the jukebox- eclectic. Anything from the converyor belt accident thrum of industrial music to raw energy of Garage Punk to the blaring guitars Classic Rock and Rockabilly Blues. The true gem of this little locals bar however, is the beer. The prices are probably the lowest in California on any day of the year. Drafts are $3.00 even for the ever present Guinness! The other taps change and vary at a seemingly random pace, but Handcrafted Microbrews like Stone Brewing Company's Arrogant Bastard to Ballast Point's Yellow Tail Pale or any Karl Strauss brew are prevalent. Bottled beers are the usual domestics, but only at two bucks a pop. Tuesday nights are dollar bottle nights, popular with the local military. Thursday's in the summer find the bar to be crowded by the La Mesa Car Show 'till hours after the show itself ends. A back patio serves as the smokers lounge, and numerous food choices are available within a block radius of the bar.
The locals range in age from College kids and Sailors, to "grizzled veterans" that have been there since opening day. this is a bar where everyone is welcome to drink, throw darts, oir watch the game on Sattelite TV. All in all, this IS the place to be in La Mesa.
