Fabulous Palm Springs Follies
This spirited, well-produced show is held in the landmark Plaza Theatre , a 1930s movie palace now enjoying a second run as the permanent home of the Palm Spring Follies. The show celebrates the music, dance and comedy of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s! The show also has renown guest stars, international variety acts and the Legendary Line of Long-Legged Lovelies.
I saw the Palm Springs Follies for the first time about four weeks ago and was enthralled. It is one of the best Vegas-style shows I have ever seen. I had to see it again, and so bought tickets for the closing show on May 15th. These wonderful and talented artists DO NOT DISAPPOINT! I wanted to sign up for tap dancing lessons as I left the theatre. The whole experience is very life-affirming. I am now telling everyone and I do mean EVERYONE about the Follies. My husband and I will never miss seeing the Follies at least once a year from now on. Thank you Riff and Company!
our familys 3rd or 4th trip to this great great show on the way home my sister a very good looking young lady in her early fiftys told us a story of how some good looking young man tried to pick her up at intermission he asked if she was single etc i told her that was great the same thing happened to me [her brother ] gotta love palm springs
I've lost count, but this is the 13th or 14th visit to The Follies. This year, I brought three gal pals from Federal Way, WA for a week of sun and fun. The Follies were definitely the highlight of the trip, and we laughed until tears ran down our faces. Of course, being in the same age group as some of the Long Legged Lovelies (the older ones), we especially related. We're also arts activitists working toward a performance hall in our city, so took mental notes about the theater as well. Every part of the performance was excellent, but I always look forward to Riff's amazing "connection" with the audience. He is so in tune with the current times, can manage to include nearly everyone in his monologues, he is THE most integral part of the show.
My friends are already talking about coming next year, and have two more who would like to! It doesn't matter who the guest stars are, I've enjoyed them all over the years. It's good to see they're still active, still wonderful, still alive.
This is good, old-fashioned, just plain fun, entertainment. Funny stuff. Wonderful dance numbers. Costumes out of this world. The juggler act is so beautiful - who would expect that? As a veteran, I especially enjoyed the patriotic finale. The group sales office was extremely helpful in arranging things for us. I couldn't believe how quickly they got back to me with e-mail and phone. Thanks again. We had a wonderful girlfriends adventure day trip.
As a New York native who has been gone way too long it was refreshing to find a kosher-style deli just around the corner. But there are lots of fabulous places to have a lovely lunch or dinner before the show.
For six years in a row we've returned to the follies and enjoyed all the shows, ventriloquists, jugglers, magicians and even the russian clothes changers, the dancers, Riff are all professionals of the highest caliber. You can entertain most of the people most of the time. WEll done, a must see when in palm springs.
I was even one of the front row people riff picked on..... I loved it.
It was absolutely fantastic. This is the 3rd time I've gone and it just seems to get better. My cousin and his friend had never been and were extremely impressed and so glad I told them about it. It's amusing, fascinating, comical, patriotic, heart rendering. Makes us all wish we were back in those good old days. Riff is extremely entertaining and clever. Thanks for a great show each time. The 4 Preps were great! What a wonderful 3 hours!! Hats off to you! TERRIFIC!!
What an AMAZING SHOW!!!!!!! It was our first time there (there were six of us) and we didn't know what to expect and we were all amazed. My husband had some pre-conceived ideas about the show, being as the entertainers were seniors, but he certainly changed his tune as early as the opening act. Riff has a terrific sense of humor and we laughed long after the show was over. The costumes were out of this world; and the dancers were magnificent (you wouldn't KNOW they are seniors!). The juggler was excellent. And the Four Preps were phenomenal; a class act. Being in that theater was very nostaglic; bringing back a lot of childhood memories. We will definitely recommend this show to our friends and family and I don't expect it to be our last time to see it either. We are all Canadians so we won't see it as often as we would like.
We've been going to the Follies for 18 consecutive years - there were eight of us and now we are three but we will be back next year - we enjoy everything about the Follies -Riff was outstanding, as always, as are all of the acts - I did miss the 82 year old dancer who won an award last year - I hope she is well - looking forward to 2012 at the Follies !
My wife and I have attend the PS Follies for many years and have never been disappointed in the talented performers and the production. For those who have not had an opportunity to attend you are missing a truly great day of entertainment.
