A severe but nostalgic let down...
When we booked the Champ we were looking for an easier course that my whole family could play as well as a budget friendly course to wrap up our golf trip. The clubhouse is very nice and the putting green is also very good, however there is no range available, and you have to hit off some mats if you want to warm up.
Once on the first tee we couldn't help but notice how poorly maintained the golf course was. The rough was often littered with brown dead patches of grass on all of the holes except 9 and 18 (which are very pretty). All of the sand traps were very poorly maintained with grass throughout. There was only one green in bad shape, and it wasn't even that bad.
In terms of playability, the front nine is very unforgiving with very small landing areas, and convex fairways that funnel most fairway drives to the rough. Aside from all of the blemishes I couldn't help but feel nostalgic to the professional golfing history that this course holds. I bet it was beautiful in its day though!
The staff are sooo friendly, which is probably the best part about this course. In the end, I would have spent 20 bucks more to play at a nicer, well maintained course.
