Palm Springs Celebrity Tours
Not everyone may want to admit to taking a celebrity tour, but the seats are consistently full on this entertaining, narrated bus tour past houses of the famous. Tour A is one and a half hours long and passes around 30-40 celebrity homes. Tour B lasts two and a half hours and includes stargazing and adds some additional country clubs and the Frank Sinatra estate. There is a daily tour from 10am to 12:30pm and private tours available upon request.
Tim Bannister went out of his way to make sure my handicapped son take his tour. Celebrity tours dedicated our tour to my son. The trip and frienship of all the people on the bus made this a vacation my family will never forget. Thank You everyone at Celebrity Tours!
Our group loved the tour & highly recommend it. LOTS of good information. Something for everyone! We had several "locals" on with us & they seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. TIM was super!!! We heard & saw over 50 homes + MANY other sites! LOVED IT!!!!!
From The Kings.
I've lived her over 20 years & have never taken this tour, I did a couple of weeks ago with my friends WOW. Tim, the driver made this tour fun, exciting & a lot of laughs. His knowledge of the Movie Stars Home, the architecture of homes etc. Great... Date Shake & LOVED Meeting Cheeta from the Tarzan Movie's.
I wrote a favorable review, and I am shocked to read how many reviewers mention the weight of the people who conducted the tours. Doing so is irrelevant, impolite and uninformative. Do they think people check into this site for information on the weight of tour conductors?
My luck, I took the tour on the only rainy day Palm Springs has had in 200 years. It's a tribute to the tour that I enjoyed myself anyway! Even though I'm a a show biz biography and autobiography maven, and I thought I'd heard every story there was to tell, the stories I heard on the tour were new to me and very entertaining! I had a ball - and I have 30 pictures of a rainy window to prove it!
Chuck took a group of strangers and he became our friend by the time the tour was over. His great anecdotal description of landmarks in Palm Springs was entertaining and his descriptions of his experiences really added to the fun of the tour. Unfortunately you cannot see inside the gates of most of the homes but Chuck had entertained with his Dixiland band at many of the stars' homes and was able to fill in the background. You have to have someone with the gift of the gab to lead this tour because of the limited ability to actually see into the grounds. I think the stories were true but even if they weren's, it was a great way to spend a couple of hours!
This tour is a complete waste of money. With a little asking around town you can get this same info for absolutely free. The tour lady kept saying she was going to take us "Up close and personal" but it never appeared. She zoomed by the houses and was pointing in so many different directions that I never really knew where to look. Every home had a large brick wall. If you really want to see a great Celebrity Tour than you must go to Beverly Hills/Hollywood, here you will be able to at least make out that it is indeed a home. As for the driver/tour lady she was very rude. I do NOT recommend this tour. Save you're money and ask around. The church that Bono had his memorial service is on Ramon Rd. and the cemetery where both Bono and Sinatra were laid to rest is also on Ramon Rd. and the corner of Da Vall Drive. It is called the Palm Springs Cemetery and you can go up to the office and get a paper that tells you where all the stars are buried at this cemetery. Hope this was helpful.
It was so frustrating! Most the time, we didn't know what house or houses she was talking about, and by the time we went buy them, we missed them or didn't know whos house it was becasue she was onto talking about someone elses house. So frustrating as we had family from out of town, and they kept looking at us like what did she say? What house- whos house is this? We decided next time we will do what others have suggested- just drive up into the streetes she took us on, ourselves, and walk around. Some houses have little plaques that show who has lived there, like Lily Tomplin or Liberace. Liked info on dates and history- but couldn't tell you anything much more- lots of wasted time on first hour and felt cheated.
