This established Thai restaurant serves traditional spicy Thai dishes to a happy, desert clientele. The decor itself is spiced with bits and pieces of Thai art, but the greatest artistry is in the kitchen. An early-bird dinner special runs every evening from 4p-6:30p, offering a selection of dishes, which include soup or salad. The Red Mountain Shrimp is a fiery combination of shrimp with vegetables in a special sauce. Regular entree prices are very reasonable to moderate for the chef's seafood specials.
They were late getting my take-out order. I had to wait 10 minutes longer then promised. Then they forgot the spring rolls. When I called them, they didn't offer any thing to make it right. I had to go back and get them. No offer to compensate for the extra gas I had to use or the inconvenience or the fact that when I got it back, everything was cold. It made the whole experience stink. I think they could have offered, a free appetizer or chai tea or even a bottle of water. Whatever. Poor service all the way.
Out of the three thai smiles i've visited, the La Quinta location has the WORST service!! half the waiters dont know what they're talking about, aren't exactly friendly, and of course the service is MINIMAL no matter how busy or slow the restaurant is.Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage have a pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient staff.I would travel the extra distance from La Quinta to either of these locations just to not be aggravated......
They tried to pass an awful house wine off as the one we ordered and when called on it said "it had been open for about an hour" which is why it didn't taste right. We eat ethnic food all over the country and this was moderate at best. We would never go back!
Food way too sweet to be authentic Thai food.
Many of the dishes taste the same, (must use the same sauce). Service is quite fast, but crowded at lunch time.
For more authentic Thai food there is a restaurant on north Palm Canyon, about 1/2 mile a way from Thai Smile, try that.
Also, for parties there is a catering service in the area, thai lady comes to your house, cooks for your party either the americanized versions of the Thai dishes, or if you want more real Thai taste, just ask, and she can spice it up and leave the extra sugar out.
Thai Smile serves THE best Thai we've ever eaten... and it is equally good at their (now) three locations. We highly recommend the Angel Wings, Devil Scallops, Pla Lard Prik, and Pad Thai. The service is fast and friendly, the decor is contemporary, and the restaurant is always clean. We have to eat there at least once during our weekend stays. Park on the street if you eat at the Palm Springs location; you need a shoehorn to get out if you park in the lot.
I am a vegetarian, and was able to find plenty of tempting options. The pad thai with tofu was great, so was the mango and sticky rice. I would highly recommend this restaurant. There is also a second location in Rancho Mirage off Bob Hope Dr., across from The River.
A favorite with locals and the "Official Breakfast Spot" for the Palm Springs Film Festival, this venue serves breakfast all
day. The informal establishment also has an array of delicious deli style sandwiches, from an Egg Salad to the ...
Deserts provide great conditions for preserving planes, and this huge collection of historic planes is a Palm Springs landmark. Enjoy
getting an up close view of aerial history in huge, air conditioned hangars, and then watch a movie in ...
Set apart from the main restaurant row on Palm Canyon Drive, this restaurant is not to be missed. Papa Johnny
is less often in the kitchen himself these days, but Vince Costa is continuing the tradition of great food. ...
