Baywood Cellars Tasting Room
This winery's Monterey Zinfandel and Chardonnay have both won several silver and bronze medals throughout the years. The family-owned operation has been in existence since 1925, and the tasting room in Cannery Row attracts many locals as well as tourists and wine connoisseurs. Step up to the marble bar and taste samples from all of California's grape-growing regions. The winery's California Merlot and Chardonnay make up the Scenic Cellars Collection, and the varieties of reds and whites in the standard collection are impressive.
This place is fantastic. My boyfriend and I are amateurs to the wine scene, but we went on a few tastings while we were in Monterey and this place was hands-down, the best place. The two men at the desk were so nice and truly informative. We feel like we walked away with much more knowledge of wine, in general, than when we arrived.
The experience was truly fantastic. If you're in the area, you MUST go visit them!
We are regretting not having a bottle or two shipped back to us in Oklahoma.
Don Whynott (not kidding) his name :) was very informative and alot of fun. We are not wine drinkers so thought we would try this. They have very good wines! We tried other wineries in the area and they seemed snobby! Don was fun the minute we walked in THANKS we'll be back in August! When I told Don what people say about Baywood Cellars on the internet he smiled and said he wrote the reviews. Go in it was alot of fun!
This is a finky kinda tasting room... smells of wine... great marble bar and two of the best pourers that I have ever seen.. Dan and Don do a great job of explaining the wines and making you feel at home.. We go here every time we visit Monterey
We love the Baywood wines! We have been wine club members for several years and each time we love the wines they send. Nice Portuguese family, small winery, lovely tasting room. Take a bottle of Baywood win to Mantos and Santos (cant remember the exact name) seafood restaurant (excellent food favored by the locals) and there is no corkage fee (they are good friends). Wonderful wines, funny, vibrant, informative staff; a late harvest Symphomy wine that is to absolute die for, one of the best late harvest white wines I have ever tasted. They have wines ranging from $5 to about $35 a bottle, with a great pinot noir and a regular symphomy also. Their tasting fee is only $3, which is waived with purchase. My favorite tasting room in the Monterey area.
Since the mid 1980s, this place has been introducing people to the fun activity of kayaking, with the added bonus
of educating the customers about the preservation of marine life in the Monterey area. The store sells and rents ...
This is one of the best designed aquariums going. A unique feature is the two story tank, home to a
kelp forest in which swim sunfish, sharks, and the occasional diver tasked with squeegeeing the algae off the tank ...
Smiling flowers extend their hearty welcome, peeping from the beautiful garden outside the Old Monterey Inn. As soon as you
step onto the premises, you know, there couldn't have been a better place than this. Couples are bound to ...
