Old Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey

The wharf is a Great place to visit. But, for food, I prefer Cannery Row. The best place I have found is Louie Linquin's Seafood and Pasta. It is upstairs, with a great view. The food was hot and excellent flavor.

I went to this Wharf the first week of Sept (after Labor Day, the end of "tourist season") with just me and my boyfriend. I liked this Wharf more than the SF Wharf maybe because it wasn't so big and so crowded. Fighting crowds and paying more for time and parking wasn't fun, but here you could feed the meter, have time to walk around without fighting crowds, and actually enjoy sightseeing, sampling and shopping. I guess this one is not as popular as the SF one. I think this wharf is a lil' more kid friendly too, less shops to drag kids through even though they are still expensive (but they had some good sales), more sightseeing for the kids (whale watching and glass bottom boat), etc. A good place if you like seafood or if you want to try something new. We spent one day kayaking around the Wharf and the next day on a Whale Watching boat to get the whole experience down, although we didn't see any whales. Simply put I actually wanted to be there for those two days, I'm not sure I'd want to revisit the SF Wharf a second day in a row to get the 'full experience'.

Beautiful wharf but a bit touristy with shops selling trinkets.

it's a bit tacky with souvenir shops but still has a beautiful ocean view and is charming. still where are the seals? never saw any.

This is the type of place you would like to raise your kids. I grew up in Salinas, CA which is about a 30min dive to Montery. This is the best place to learn about sea animals

We spent a wonderful 3 hours one evening on the old wharf at the Wharf Theatre. This theatre has been producing productions for 35 years and you can see why! The production was well produced, funny and a delight all and all! Even our two teen daughters loved it! Don't miss it.

I went last year to one of the Restaurants and ordered a sea food platter.. it was horrible, burnt, and very very small. I was completely bum'ed! and very mad that I had spent so much on dinner and left hungry. Some advice..** i would go off the beaten path** to eat.. much better food and more for the money.. and FRESH!

We go ever year for the Pro-Am at Pebble Beach and make sure that we have one whole day just to hang out at the Wharf!!! We whale watch, eat, just chill and enjoy the sites and sounds!!! Would not trade this trip for anything!!! I look forward to it ever year!!!!!!!!!!

The first time we were in Monterey (2004) we missed this. I am glad we found it now in 07. It is a neat row of shops, a beautiful ocean view and a nice place to see the seals. Be sure to take the walk down to the coast guard dock from Fisherman's Wharf to see the beautiful coastal foliage and animals.

There are some nice restaurants on the wharf. It's a good atmosphere, family friendly. You can get whale watching tours from here. There are several shops. All in all a nice place to go. I live in Monterey for a year and four months while in training for the Navy. I certainly enjoyed it.
