Let It Bead
Beads of every color of the rainbow, not to mention neutral, black, white, beige and translucent tones, can be found at this store. Glass, crystal, metal and acrylic beads fill the containers all around the store. There are also lots of unusual, eye-catching beads made of porcelain, brass, bone and wood. Purchase all the beads you need to make your own jewelry as well as the clasps, string and other necessities. People who want the look but do not have the patience to create it can purchase jewelry made by Kris Avina, the owner of the store.
I wandered into the first version of this store when I was still too short to see over a counter, and thought that earrings with red and purple beads would be beautiful. Kris taught me to bead, and put my jewelry on consignment in the shop. you can still get jewelry done by local children and be certain that they will get all of the money from the sale. The bead selection is great, I've moved up and down California and never found anything like it. Kris or one of the staff will help you design and make your own neclace right there in the shop if its not to busy. You should also check out the paintings on the wall, Kris' S.O. Barry does them, and they're gorgeous.
As a hobby beader, I usually do not frequent bead shops when traveling out of town. However, my DDs (ages 3 and 5) stumbled on to the store and had to go in. The store has a nice inventory and very reasonable prices. But what really got me was their beautiful handmade, painted animal charms. I was going to point them out to my children and offer to buy one for each of them, however, the owner beat me to it. She offered to allow them to pick one out for free. After they picked out their charm, so offered to also string it up. I was impressed with her generousity and the detail of the charms is truely awesome.
My mom, sisters (visiting from Michigan) and I were in Monterey and stopped into Let It Bead. The store had and excellent selection of one of a kind bead creations, at very good prices. The owner Kris was wonderful. She took a genuine interest in us as customers and gave us a memorable shopping experience we will never forget! We can't wait to go back!
