Patrick's Consignment Store
This little store sells antique furniture, paintings, home furnishings, and all sorts of decorative items on consignment from individuals and dealers. There is always something new here, and there is always a great deal to be had. It is a neat little shop and a great place to stumble into on the way to somewhere else. The proprietor even has auctions on a regular basis. Since 1988, the owner has been providing personalized service to a clientele of regulars and occasional passers-by.
I totally agree with Susan and had a very similar experience. Patrick's is a terrible place to leave an item on consignment… There was NO transparency in the process (is your item really appraised at the right price? is it really being sold at the price you are told? when does it sell? how much did it sell for?)
I left a tea set for consignment, and was told after the fact that because it wasn't selling (after only one week) they lowered the price (without my consent) and sold it for way under its value. I then had to call relentlessly for over a month to receive a check. They would not even send it, I had to pick it up.
My experience there was really awful, and I do not recommend anyone using their services for consignment. I tried it as an alternative to Craigslist, but will never go there again.
It's a nice place to browse and the employees do their best, but the owner does not manage her consignments in a "transparent", business-like way. There was no inventory of the items we had in the store and the dates they were sold AND we have to wait 45 days (!) for payment on the items that did sell. At the end of our contract we were told items were missing, or "maybe were stolen"... nobody was sure about anything.
I've consigned items in two other shops in the central coast area where they had organized computer status of all items ready at the completion of my contract. My sister has had the same experience at Patrick's, sorry to say, these things should be a huge concern to any seller.
We have lived all over and dealt with many consignment shops but Patricks has been by far our best overall to deal with. I ( and many friends ) have been dealing with them for many years and we have bought AND sold and ALWAYS been paid in a reasonable length of time. We did get a letter once that was sent to all their consignors at then end of 2007 saying they were re-grouping and payments might be a bit delayed and we were fine with that, I received what was owed to me in about 30 days. They are the greatest and honest about what is going on down there. We ( my friends and I) go in every chance we get as we feel like a member of their family..they are family owned (21 years I think). Don't let one disgruntled unhappy soul mold your opinion..Go there yourself and you will see- they are a GREAT group of hard working people doing a great job for people like me and the rest of our community. My friends and I have made $$ (Thousands) since we've been dealing with them.
I LOVE this store! I try to make it in at least once a month to check out what they have. I bought a book shelf, with a glass front door, and the price was so reasonable. My friend has gotten a really nice wooden dresser there too. They have some great furniture pieces, and if you catch them after they've been marked down - you could get a great deal!
I've been looking for a few things for my house, odds and ends...and I just make it a point to stop in and see what they have.
The people are very nice and helpful. Like I said, I go there at least once a month, and they remember who you are. They are really personable, and just great people! It's fun, it's just a cool place to stop in to. Check it out!
