This elegant but casual Italian restaurant perfectly blends innovative twists of Sicilian cuisine with local flavors. Inside, you will find black lamps, terra cotta walls and a plethora of foliage. Not only is it a great place for live jazz, it is also an excellent spot to try pizzas or choice grilled dishes such as the Lamb Chops with Garlic and Asparagus. A huge variety of wines are available, most of which are $25-$60 a bottle. Locals haunt the place and the service is great.
As a local, I frequent this establishment on a semi-regular basis and absolutely love the food, atmosphere and service. The food is tasty, the staff attentive and the live entertainment makes it a great hangout for couples and singles. After dinner, about 10pm, the place turns into a nightclub and it is usually standing room only. Lots of fun.
I have never had a bad experience here and would highly recommend it to anyone. The last time I was in, my server told me that they were in the process of revamping their dinner menu and wine list. He was very excited about it.
You don’t want to miss this place!
The service was wonderful and very personable. The food was excellent! I will never forget what a wonderful experience my family and I had. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Can't wait to visit again on my next trip to Monterey!
Ate at Cibo on May 13, 2006. The worst meal I have ever had in a resaurant. Ever! My supposedly seared scallops looked like marshmallows. They had never been anywhere near a flame, a grill or even a frying pan. My husband's butterflied chicken breast was so tough that it was difficult cutting it with a knife. And the taste was very strange.
The only good thing I can say about the place is that it is tastefully decorated.
We have added Cibos to our list of places to meet with friends. The food is good. My pasta was frozen though. Don't take people that like fine food there. Our busser was more attentive than our waiter. The nightlife is what draws us back.
To insure that we would have a table, we made reservations prior to arriving, and were seated promptly. We purchased a large bottle of still water, in accordance to what is normally done at a fine dining restaurant... When that was depleted, we then went on to get a bottle of sparkling water. Our servers gave us the perfect amount of attention. The food, from our appetizers to our desserts, was exquisite. To top it off, great jazz and beautiful decor. Overall, this was a wonderful experience.
The restaurant looks kind of fancy and expensive so I thought I'd get a service accordingly. However, when I went inside the restaurant there was nobody at the entrance so we had to wait more than normal to be seated, eventhough the place was't crowed. Nobody came to our table for a long time. We had to tell the hostess before a waitress came to our table. We had to ask for water because they never brought any to our table. Overall my experience at this restaurant was very bad. I would not recommend it to anyone.
