International Banana Club Museum
Description
Open since 1976, this museum was once situated in Altadena. Now housed in the Harrison Exhibit Center in Hesperia, this museum still displays more than 17,000 items on display, the world's largest collection of banana items. If it has something to do with bananas, it is here in this storefront museum. The items are sent in by members of the Banana Club, to owner Ken "Banana Man" Bannister. Items include banana-shaped telephones, lamps, banana plush toys, stickers, books, T-shirts and much more. There is no adult-related material though, so it is appropriate for all ages. This is worth a visit if you are interested in kitsch and popular culture. The museum is open to the public on Tuedays, Thursdays and the second Saturday of every month. Admission is free.
