Too many players on the course
I found Penmar to be one of the nicest public 9 hole courses that I have ever played. You can even air out your driver a few times on this beautiful course. It remains very well maintained and the fairways are carpet like! The greens seem to be well maintained also. The beauty of the place is that there are no electric or gas carts (it is a strictly walking only course) on the course to trample down the grass which allows the natural grass to really grow to its full potential. I also found that the people I would get paired up with were pretty cool and friendly too. The only REAL bummer is that they are using a (5) "fivesome" rule which I think is a major major drawback to the amount of time that you are out on the course. C'mon Penmar course management! Get your act together and just put out foursomes. Like a REAL golf course. For cryin out loud! I wouldn't care if you even charged us more! At most, this place should play out around an hour and forty five minutes. With the fivesome rule they are using, you are lucky if you can play the course in 2 and a half hours. Of the 6 times I have played there, it has taken anywhere from 2 hours 15 minutes, to 2 hours and 50 minutes. Most of the time you are waiting around to actually strike your ball.
Ouch.....That'll put a damper on your rythym.
