this is a great place all around. The comments by racists that can't stand the fact that whites built and settled this country have no place in this forum. How many black - Hispanic places are there that whites are not welcome or safe?

Golf Course was perfect condition, weather great, but L.A. smog is something I can't get used to. The Monterey Peninsula has fog and can be cold at times, how ever at least the air is breatheable 365 days a year. If you put the Los AngelesCountry Club South Course in Pebble Beach It would rank in top 5 courses in the U.S.A. My father was born and raised in Pebble Beach and I've been fortunite to play all 7 courses inside the gates of Pebble Beach and many private courses in the L.A. area. I moved away from snobs vill, (Pebble Beach) became a General Contractor and now I cant stand the stuck up people at places like L.A.C.C.or Cypress Point. Los Angeles Country Club should take notes from M.P.C.C. and host a state amature event, because lets face it, YOU ARE NOT Cypress Point. However, thanks for making me feel less than you while I enjoyed the layout and condition of your (course members) South course. My Grandpa and Great Uncle were members and only played golf there 1 or 2 times a decade, (maybe 3 or 4 times) what a waste of membership I say. Thats how most members are at L.A.C.C. but what do you think of it.

my grandparents are members as were my great-grandparents, and although the course and clubhouse are beautiful, its full of snobs. Not only is membership only extended to wasps, but i have been going there a few times every year for my whole life and the most diversity ive seen is a catholic priest playing golf.

I read a number of the already-posted reviews and have to agree with them in varying degrees - except the frog one; not sure where that came from??!! My father has been a member for the last 40 years and his father before that. I learned to play golf there as a kid in the early 70's and recently played with my father there on the South Course probably for the last time. But I will say this, it is a round of golf that is like few others in the world, on a course surrounded by some of the most expensive real estate in the United States. From locker room to club house and everything in between, it is setup for service and comfort, and good day of golf. If you can play it only once, play the North Course.

Well, here's the thing. Great food. I mean, really great food, old waspy white comfort food - creamed chipped beef, bernaise, soft, over-cooked vegetables... but nary a black person, Asian or Latino in the whole place (with the exception of the help). The LACC is a curiosity (BTW, my family are members) - because it's one of those last gasping, wretching, fighting bastions of white white waspy exclusivity left in Southern California. Frankly its obsolete... and the self-important people, so snobby the women with no make-up and their formless fashion and the husbands with their guts hanging over their dockers khakis and Tommy Bahama shirts and on special occasions their wrinkled navy/pink/lime green sportcoats... you gotta see it! It's a riot! But so utterly out-of-touch with reality. In a way it's sad because well, they're just all living in their own little world and it's really rather depressing... Yes go see it because in a generation or two it will be completely irrelevant. The land is too valuable, and I predict condos, houses and a shopping center in 25 years. But then again, I kinda like it 'cuz that's where I go when I need a jolt! Go try and find someone really fabulous and incredibly rich and get them to let you in to see it.

this course is the best iv'e played it is great fun and has wonderful food. the staff is also very kind.= five star=BEST PLACE ON EARTH!!

I am fortunate enough to be the cousin of a long standing member at L.A.C.C. and from time to time I am invited to play at this most wonderful of places. Not only does L.A.C.C. give you two great historic golf courses it also puts you in a frame of mind to play golf and forget the outside world. I have never been more at peace with myself or my game as I am when teeing it up at Los Angeles Country Club. Thanks to my cousin and thanks to the club and all their staff for their efforts.

Of all the places in the world I have traveled and been fortunate enough to play golf, the LACC would rate in my top 10. The best!

This is a golf course. Your invited by a friend, you pay big bucks and you play. That hardly qualifies for anything other than a good day of golf.

The L.A. Country Club is famous for being the only place to refuse an invitation to host the U.S. Open. (Ever wonder why the U.S. Open is never played in Southern California?) Also not welcome are celebrities, certain semitic types, etc. You get the picture. But if you are a rich, old-moneyed WASP, this place is heaven.
