The Walk of Fame is very much a tribute to Johnny Grant, a former mayor of Hollywood and relentless promoter of Tinsel Town. There is no mistaking what town you are in when you gaze down at the sidewalk and see these world famous gold stars. Encompassing a stretch of Hollywood Boulevard near the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, more than 2500 bronze-inlaid stars commemorate some of the most famous individuals in movies, radio, TV, recording and theater. Celebrities are added frequently, so give the Chamber of Commerce a call to see if you can catch one of the actual ceremonies and witness a star becoming immortal.

Walk of Fame
By Bren-Lo, 05/31/09
I enjoyed taking my family during the day. My kids enjoying looking for the celebrities they knew on the walk. The souvenir shops are really cool. It's Hollywood, oh and by the way the museums are also cool.

Loved It!
By Cheermom, 04/16/08
I've seen the Hollywood Walk of Fame on TV, but in real life to see them is totally cool. It was fun to look for all of the people that I like. We took pictures for our scrap book. It is a MUST DO!!

Dont take small kids
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/03/07
The whole area is nothing like you would expect its all kittle junk shops and a ton of "adult" stores. Way too many people in the tourist area and as soon as you get a little out of it, the area does not seem very safe. Dont miss going to this place but dont think its going to be super great.

Do it once
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/07
The Hollywood Walk of Fame was something to do once in your life. The thrill of seeing the names and stars of the famous and not so famous was a kick. Unfortanetly the area is rundown, dirty and crowded. Aside from the chinese theatre, some tourist museums and the shopping center, all that is left was souvineer stands, tatoo parlors and people dressed as cartoon charecters looking for tips. It was extremely crowded, but the people watching was one of the best parts.

Follow the Stars
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/07
It was a lot of fun walking famous Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. There are lots of interesting things to see and people are more friendly than I expected. I really enjoyed taking pictures of my favorite Walk of Fame stars. Here's a tip: Pick up a copy of The Walk of Stars Map and Directory in one of the souvenir shops. It tells where to find each star on the sidewalk and a little about each person who has a star. It sure is a lot easier than wandering around for hours trying to find your favorite stars, because there a lot more than you think. While you're there eat at the historic Pig'n Whistle or Musso and Frank Grill. There are beautiful old theaters like the Pantages and the Egyptian. (We wouldn't have known where to find these places if we hadn't bought a Walk of Stars Directory.) The area is really looking good again, especially since the Kodak theater and the Highland Center are there now. I'll never forget the experience. It's a must see for movie buffs and fans of Hollywood!

More appropriate title "Hollywood Walk of Shame"
By Jackie, 04/06/07
Maybe this area started out being glamorous, but it isn't now. We traveled across country to visit the LA and San Diego area and the Hollywood Walk of Fame was one of our destinations. Wow were we disappointed! The area is filthy, and in need of renovation. The sidewalks on Hollywwod Blvd. and stars are in need of repair, including removing graffiti. The whole area, including alot of the shops, were just dumpy and seedy, not what you see on television at all. I will never go back to Hollywood Blvd, or even the LA area. I didn't see anything there that was worth seeing again.

Surrounded by stars
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/06
You are literally surrounded by lots of stars here - pink stars embedded in the footpath, that is. Have a photo taken of yourself squatting/lying down next to the "star" of your favourite actor/actress (this is invaluable proof that you've been to Hollywood), and that's about all there is to do along the Walk of Fame. Avoid the Stormtrooper, Chewbacca, Superman, Spiderman etc roaming the sidewalks for a photograph opportunity with you and of course, a few bucks from your pocket, unless you are desperate for a photo with them.

A disappointing trip down Hollywood Walk of Fame
By Bonnie, 03/22/06
I'd been wanting to go to Hollywood ever since I was a little girl and dreamed of being an actress growing up so I was thrilled at the thought of going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kodak Theater, and Chinese Theater! Once I got there I knew I would be greatly disappointed and my dreams came crashing down around me. It's filthy, touristy, run down, and seedy. All the glamour leaves with the stars. You can tour the theaters, but one glance through the doors tells you it's not worth the price of the tours. The most interesting part of the walk is the hand and foot prints in the front of Mann's Chinese theater. The stars on the Walk of Fame are not kept up and you have to deal with tour salesclerks every few steps. A funny part of our journey down Hollywood lane were people dressed up as V (for Vendetta), Zorro, Charlie Chaplin, Chewbacca, Superman, etc. If you do go, STOP AT SHELLEY'S! It's where they filmed the cafe scene in Million Dollar Baby and Clint Eastwood ate there. The burgers are DELICIOUS and you get your money's worth.
