This observatory, decorated in art deco style, was built in the early 1930s and is a highlight among landmarks in Southern California. See incredible light shows at the Oschin Planetarium, which puts to use the latest technology. Outside the observatory, you'll find sweeping views of the area that are breathtaking during the day and at night as well. Exhibits and planetarium shows will fascinate visitors. Some visitors might recognize the observatory as the site where the climax of Rebel Without a Cause was filmed.
Was there with my family to see my daughter lives in ornage county best view on the LA area. Very cheap and inexpensive place to take family. Everything was free aside from the show. I can not believe this place was FREE to visit. It offers excellent views of the HOLLYWOOD sign. Awesome space exhibits. Parking is tight, so just park on the street and walk up the hill some. Must be incredible at night, but we went during the day. Almost did not visit b/c thought it wasn't going to be great, but it turned out to be a highlight!
EXCELLENT PLACE TO ADMIRE AN EXCELLENT PANARAMIC VIEW OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND IT'S SURROUNDING AREAS. ON CLEAR DAYS THE VIEWS ARE MORE INTENSE. THE OBSERVATORY WAS BUILT IN A LOVELY ART DECO STYLE ARCHETECTURE TYPICAL OF ITS TIME. THOUGH NEVER INSIDE I AM SURE THAT INTERIORS ARE JUST AS LAVISH AS THE EXTERIOR. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SITE TO BE INCLUDED IN ANYONES ITINARY, THIS WOULD BE FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY, ADULTS AND CHILDREN.
Was there with my girlfriend, best view on the LA area. Very cheap and inexpensive place to take a date.
Everything was free aside from the show. They even have an onsite cafe which is on the pricy side but if you bring your on snacks your all set.
Show are $7.00 and $5.00 if your a student with ID.
Great place to spend the evening! I'd recommend it.
