Gondola Getaway, The, Long Beach

I have done to the Gondola Getaway through a few wives and girlfriends over the years. Probably back to 1988. Started then with cheese, crackers, salami and, of course, our wine and singing by the gondoliers. Over the years, things were deleted. Just went last weekend and experienced a bare bones cruise. I was very disappointed. No cheese, no crackers, no singing, no music. The guide didn't really even talk. Just got in, sat down, sailed around, that was it!! Luckily I was with an incredible woman who didn't know better. Told her I loved her so the night was good. Sad to see things be reduced to this. Will never go again. :-(

This adventure was terrific!! 7 of my closest friends and I went on the 1 long tour around the canal and the Gondoliers were very informative about the houses. We had a chance to view Sandra Bullocks house and enjoyed a very peaceful and serene time. Even residents that were taking evening walks on the docks were very friendly and waved, talked and laughed with us. An excellent adventure to experience. For 8 people we spent $200.00 and for an extra $20.00 were able to take the champagne glasses that they provided for us. Not bad for a birthday adventure!!
