UCLA campus
As an alternative to the smog, smugness and plasticity that characterizes LA,a tour of a local univercity is the way to proceed.
Westwood UCLA campus is like finding a pocketful of wilderness in a large urban setting. The terrain of the campus is hilly and sloping, evergreen trees are those pointy ponderosa pines that seem to be always signaling directions as well as trees of hardwood variety.Along one stretch of trees is a bank of seating that allows for rest and relaxation amid the towering trees.Lots of pine cones cover the ground and make for natural souveniers of one's visit. The Spanish architectural quality of the buildings are reminiscent of Berkeley campus, orange tile roofs and cream edifices.
And fountains spray the air with splashing waters.
The main buildings here are the UCLA campus bookstore,Powell library and Ackerman student center. Each one offering interesting items and activities.Housed inside the student ctr. are scads of places to dine in and to grab a quick snack as well as pc kiosk stations to check email, etc. Here too is a travel office that can book vacations and voyages at reduced rates.
UCLA Westwood is more than a university its a nice respite from "urbanville" USA.
