Hermosa City Beach
This is generally considered one of the top beaches in the Los Angeles area. Hermosa is quite similar to its neighbor Manhattan Beach , though it has the added bonus of pedestrian-only public spaces teeming with shops, restaurants and people. One of the world's beach sports Meccas, this is the site of both beach volleyball's Hermosa Beach Open at the end of August and surfing's International Surf Festival, also in August. Just be advised that summer crowds can be frighteningly large. Call the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors for details.
I like watching the people come and go on "the strand" walkers, runners, skateboards, bikers, babies in carriages, dogs in carriages, always a vollyball tournament going on, busy night life, some shopping, but expensive. You can rent bikes, and rollerskates.The police do patrol often, and they must do a good job because in the 8 total days we were there, we didn't see anyone acting up despite all the night life there. Nice Clean beach. tempetures were between the 60s and 70s. not like the weather you see on baywatch or the O.C. Windy too.
