This museum, founded in 1924, is certainly one of Southern California's forgotten gems. The collection here contains a wealth of Middle Eastern artifacts, some of which are more than 2,000 years old. Collected by explorer Antonio F. Futterer during his years abroad, some of the smaller items here include lamps, bottles and coins. The impressive mummy casket dates 600 years before the birth of Christ. Today, Holyland Exhibition can be visited only by appointment for a small fee, which covers a tour and refreshments. Disabled access is limited to the ground floor.

MUST SEE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/09
One of the most unique places I have ever been to! Wish I could have stayed longer! I learned more about Biblical history in 2 short hours than at any "church" . It was presented from such a nuetral standpoint and you are assured of its non-doctrinal orientation! Perfect for anyone of any faith, religious or not!

One of the most amazing places I have ever seen in Los Angeles! The mere size and scope of the collection is breathtaking! The tours are so entertaining and educational! You will want to visit more than once! Just make sure you make a reservation before you go!

Fascinating
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/10/09
We came down to Southern California for the usual theme parks, but a relative in the area told us about this and made an appointment. Our teenage sons and "busy" daughter aren't easily impressed, especially by museums, but they seemed remarkably taken with this display and the informative presentations by the guide. If you can't make it to the Holy Land, I think this is the next best thing!

Unusual, amazing....a must see
By Herb, 01/06/09
I visited the Holyland Exhibit yesterday, and was given a tour by Betty. I live within a mile of the Exhibition, and had heard about it for a few years. I would never have expected the experience I had. Betty is fascinating and she and her family have been the caretakers of the Exhibition for years, running it in a completely low key manner. Her passion for the Exhibition and the life that she leads spreading the teachings from the Exhibition's founder, Antonio Futterer, will leave you humbled. The diversity and quantity of artifacts is amazing. And the history of this place and its founder is equally amazing. It's a beautiful place to visit too...can't be beat for $2.50!!

Must see his hidden treasure...
By Ken, 04/01/08
2 hours zipped by just like a blink of an eye. Filled with rich collection of a few thousand years from coins to war weapons to coffee makers to game tables to dolls and 2300 year old mummy casket. Reduced size ark of the covenant and many things mentioned in the bible or Torah. See the bible history come alive in this place as the curators tell you stories after stories in the bible that relates to the very things you are looking at.

Best Kept Secret in LA!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/07
I enjoyed this museum more than any other in my life, although this is a small museum. The staff is respectful and I learned a ton. You learn a lot about the cultures and religions of the area. There is no glitz or fiction- this is authentic artifacts collected a hundred years ago. Some of them are incredible works of art and wealth. I invited all my friends and returned a few times with them. The last time I was there was 2002, and at that time you had to call ahead to make an appointment to attend. However, they were not busy at all so this shouldn't dissuade you.

An oasis in LA
By Paul, 08/30/07
This little gem is tucked away near Dodger Stadium. You'd never know from the outside what's housed inside. From the sand and oil of the middle east to the mummy cases it was well worth the visit. The short lecture was very informative and their store offers some unique and interesting artfacts. Be sure to call ahead and get good directions.

Full of Biblical Knowledge and Treasures; 2 hours is too short
By Ernest, 07/14/07
We, a group of 17, spent a memorable Friday evening (8-10 PM) there. Betty and Karen, unpaid volunteers, were very kind and flexible. They were willing to accommodate us at such a late schedule. The driving direction given by internet map services do not work. You must follow the direction given by Betty (i.e., northbound along Alessandro Way) to get there. There is plenty of parking. The museum is full of treasures in five showrooms. The Main Hall has a huge wall map showing the 37 events in the Bible (Gen., Ex., Num., Deut., Josh., 2Kings., 2Chron., Luke, Acts), as well as 4000 years of genealogical chart from Adam to Immanuel. The Damascus Room on the 2nd floor is full of precious arts and artifacts, furniture from the Assyrian and Babylonian areas. The Egypt and Bethlehem Room in the basement has a mummy, hundreds of artifacts, and authentic Middle Eastern costumes. The Archaeological Workroom contains 300+ slides (exhibits from old Bibles), and many lamps, jars, coins from Mesopotamia, Palestine and Egypt. The Souvenir Room displays more art on one side, and inexpensive items on the other side. The "laminated Genealogical Chart" and "Adam in Eden to Paul in Rome, 200 Bible Questions and Answers" each cost only $3.00 and are ideal souvenirs. The only complaint I have is that the scheduled two hours is regrettably too short. You can easily spend 3-4 hours in this small museum, carefully looking at all the unique items that they have on display. I wholeheartedly recommend a trip to the Holy Land Exhbition.

An awesome display of biblical history
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/07
The Holy Land Museum has the best display of Biblical history in the Los Angeles area. The tour guides give information and answer all questions exhaustively. If you are a Christian or of Jewish heritage you would be doing yourself a disservice if you miss seeing this Museum. THIS IS A MUST SEE!!!

Great for school field trips
By Diana, 03/22/07
WE have visited this place several times with groups of elementary students. It is perfect. The students really get a feel for the lifestyle of the middle east. Ther eis very good interaction with the docents.
