Hobby City Doll and Toy Museum

Description

This shop and museum contains more than 6,000 distinct toys and dolls. Everything from Star Wars to Strawberry Shortcake can be found within its extensive collection. There are also plenty of rarities, including European dolls, all housed in a half-scale replica of the White House. The only problem for the younger set is that this isn't an interactive museum; everything here is strictly hands-off. Nonetheless, it still makes for a wonderful visual experience. Admission: $2 Adults, $1 Children

Hobby City is a dump
By Bill Cousert, 8/20/10
Hobby City used to be a great place to spend an afternoon. They had a great model train store (biggest I had ever seen), slot car racing and tons more. I last visited about a year ago and the place was dead. 90% of the stores were closed. The reason I went is I heard rumors that they were closing for good and I wanted to see it one last time. I wish I could get that time back. It was a total disaster. They should either try to get some quality tenants or close up.

Doll Sanctuary
By SH, 4/21/08
There's no better, more reasonable place... If you like dolls. Collectors of toys and dolls young and old will all find something to appreciate here; but don't expect to be entertained for hours on end, as this is a small museum. Everything in the museum is to look at, not touch... so if your kids are very hands-on, this may not be for you. Also, this is definitely more an outing for girls than boys. Beautiful collection of Madame Alexander dolls on sale in front.

No More Cabbage Patch Store
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/08
I brought my older girls to the cabbage patch store back in the early 90's. We still have the photos of them with the doctor after their dolls "check up". As well as the girls heads stuck thru a big cabbage. Too bad this store is no longer there to take my youngest who is now into cabbage patch dolls. The nice women who worked in this store made it very special for the young girls that got to experience it. If you read this --Thank you.

hobby city works!
By wilson, 10/10/07
i have been to this store over the past few years and i continually get lost in the cars and trains. its not that it is so big, but that the little cars just keep my eyes glued to the display cases. there are t shirts, rare hotwheels and just plain guy stuff there. add to that is that tom mcewen, drag race hall of famer is there sometimes ( he signed for me once! such a deal!!). if you are a hot wheels devotee this is the place. if like model cars, or trains, this is the place.the guys who work there are great too. word of worry though... this place is being sold out overall and they have no place yet to relocate( this is oct 07 write up). so i would say go there while you can and certainly dont give up on the place. its one of those necessary spots, you know?

Hobby City!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/07
I grew up going to Hobby City in the 60s. We went to race slot cars. They had lots of really cute shops, a train ride, a Cabbage Patch store. Im pretty sure its still there, and I would invite anyone vising the area to take a drive over. Its cute, its quaint, and it brings back very fond memories for me. I probably have not been there since 1987 or so when I took my own children for a visit.
