1,000 Steps Beach, Laguna Beach

the most beautiful beach ive ever been too, if you venture out past the main part. to the south is a great adventure over rocks, a cool abandoned building, local smoke spot, and INSANE caves (some of the best anywhere that ive ever found. past that are incredible pools of ocean water that collect at high tide, and make for perfect lounging on a private beach. past that even is a "private beach with no trespassing" but nobodies ever given me trouble. there are man made pools filled with ocean water, fish, octopus, and sting rays. INSANE! to the north of the main beach are more adventures but its gotta be low tide for any cave dwelling you plan on doing. instead of paying thousands to go to hawaii come here in september and enjoy a 99% private beach and incredible experience. MUST-SEE!!!!!

the secret spots are insane. but tourists have killed laguna for me after growing up there my whole life. Majority of people have no idea what is really actually at a thousand steps. you just have to explore beyond all the disgusting people and climb some rocks. I swear to you... it is so beautiful, like being in hawaii. Caves, Octopus, Stingrays. check it

its perfect the most beautiful beach in orange county and its really clean you can see right through the waves there aren't that many people there either you can stay there all day and it doesn't get old those stairs will make you hurt the next day though there is like 200 of them

After growing up in Laguna Beach, attending Elementry, Jr. High and High School I feel that you tourists should know that this beach is unsafe to access do to limited parking on the very busy and high speed area of the coast Hi-way. You must paralell park here in a blind, up hill section of hi-way! Also Laguna Beach Police Department thrives on parking tickets in the areas of beach access at all of "her" beaches. Take it from a vet since "72" of the area-there are better beaches with easier access. don't beleive me? Go ahead and get a ticket or in an accident, it's your insurance rate.

This beach is beeeeautiful! Very clean, pretty secluded, and the people are pretty friendly. It's also pretty easy to find, and not unreasonable to take a trip there if you are staying as far away as San Diego. Oh yah, those steps are pretty steep though. Your thighs will start burning about halfway--my count was 225 steps total, by the way. The houses built there actually have elevator-like contraptions to take them back and forth. Don't let the workout deter you, just take care of yourself, and don't get all worn out & dehydrated at the beach and you'll make it to the top no problem.

Striding these steps will whip you into shape quick. The beach is supposedly closed late at night. There is a locking door at the top of the stairs. Does anyone actually lock it? No, there is not any metered parking nearby. Parking is free on the landward side of the highway. You may be able to park by the hospital. Watch it crossing the highway. These drivers will mow you down without blinking an eye. You will find a few fitness buffs treading the steps. People tend to be friendly.

This is an awesome little beach. More for a little older crowd rather than kids, because there are literally 400 something steps!!! Very beatifual though.
