Sunset Ranch Hollywood
If you're an out-of-towner and miss riding the plains, you can cure your equestrian nostalgia by renting a horse and riding through the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park. There are plenty of options here, including one and two hour rides during the day for anyone over the age of seven. A very popular option is the Friday night moonlight ride. Just arrive for a three-hour round-trip ride, which culminates with dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant.
no stars at all!? - chrstn98? - Today
I wish I could give no stars. My sister, mother and brother in law went out
for the 3 hour friday night ride. My sister is an experienced rider and Ive
ridden a few times. The horses were obviously tired and didn't want to do
the walk. They kept stopping and the guide would whip them and tell us they
were lazy horses. Made me sick to my stomach that they were so tired they
didn't want to go. All our horses were acting skittish and tired. All the
horses spooked and bolted when a rider came out of a tunnel. My mom (66
years old) was thrown from her horse as was my sister. My mom was hurt and
laying on the ground for a good 15 minutes. the guide seemed overwhelmed and
called back to the stables to send someone to get her horse. no ambulance /
no ride! we rode the horses the next half mile back to the restaurant with
my mom hobbling and limping behind us and called a cab for me and my mom,
which i had to pay 32 dollars for plus we paid in full for the ride. my mom
had to go to the doctor the next day and is bruised up pretty bad. the
stables never called to check on her / never refunded at least the cab fare.
unbelievable. Please, please don't go to this horrible place. I feel so bad
for the horses there.
Nothing beats getting back to nature and being out doors and just being one with everything. The calm and peacefulness found when you're in the company of these beautiful creatures is like a little piece of heaven on Earth!
I have never regreted to choose Hollywood than other. It is excellent, fantastic and Marvelous. My hubby and myself enjoyed it so much. I will recommend to my friend and surely we will come back again.
COME HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I was at Sunset Ranch yesterday and I can assure you I am never coming back AND I am traumatized with horses. THE HORSE THREW ME OFF! I was admitted to the ER due to severe back pains. The guide was horrible and did not know what to do. Right when I fell off, he asked me right away if I wanted to get back on the horse, MULTIPLE TIMES. Uhh WTF, I just fell off a horse and you want me to get back on....right away?? The only reason why he asked me was because he was having trouble handling my horse, his horse, and my boyfriend's horse to go back on the trail. I had to walk a long way back until finally he decided it was a good time to pull out his cellphone and finally get someone to come get me. He DID NOT even apologize which made me angry. What kind of service was this?
And the horses: They need to train these horses more! The reason why I was thrown off the horse was because my horse got startled by a man carrying an umbrella. Are you serious?! That would mean there are other possibilities for a horse to get scared. Also, when you go on this trail, the horses tend to walk near the edge, and because it's up on a hill/mountain, you're pretty damn far up. You can only imagine what would have happened if this horse had seen the umbrella while near the edge. I don't think I would be able to sit here writing this review. Not only are the horses not trained enough, but they are all so tired! Each hike, depending on what you choose is 2+ hours! It didn't seem like they had the stamina, it was just horrible. They treat their horses inhumanely too.
Now I am stuck in the bed, unable to go to work, so what better way to write a review hmm? I will never go horse back riding again. :(
Like I said, GO AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I feel very fortunate that we were able to see this horse facility before leaving Los Angeles and returning to London. We have horseback riding of course, but we don't have the Hollywood sign, or this splendid property, the sprawling grounds, trails, and heart-stopping views of Los Angeles.
My mates and I will remember this forever! Our guide was lovely. She told us so much about Sunset Ranch and Griffith Park. Our ride was 2 hours long, and we all regretted not taking the 4 hour ride instead. Oh well, there is always next year when we return for holiday.
Hats off to this wonderful attraction. I hope everyone gets a chance to take it in.
Two thumbs up!!
Los Angeles really does have it ALL as we found out this week =) . While here on vacation we have been to great clubs and restaurants, beautiful beaches, a couple of museums, vintage shops, the walk of fame, and then today someone told us about horseback riding under the Hollywood sign. We actually thought they were pulling our leg, but it was worth a shot to find out, it sounded interesting.
We went to the top of Beachwood Canyon and there it was, Sunset Ranch Hollywood. It was like we went back in time. What a cool place.
We got saddled up and were off with our guide to see what was truly the most incredible view of all of Los Angeles. This was fun, peaceful, and different from anything else we have had the opportunity to do while we were here.
We would have to say this was our best day in L.A. Thanks Sunset Ranch!
Today was a brilliant day for me in Hollywood. I heard about Sunset Ranch and thought it would be cool to see this place and go on a ride. I'm local, sometimes jaded, and needed a break from the city. I didn't know what to expect and I've got to tell you, I was pleasantly surprised.
When I called the girl on the phone told me to be sure to wear sunscreen, glad I did. When I got there, everyone was nice and friendly. There are a lot of beautiful horses up there, some chickens and a white peacock! I got a beautiful horse with a sweet temperment, and I also had a wonderful tour guide. I rode with a few other people and we all literally stopped dead in our tracks when we got up to the top of the trail and saw the view! It really is breathtaking.
It was an inexpensive ride, 1 hour is $30, 2 hours for $45. I went for the 2 hour ride. We saw a lot of things I didn't know I could see here in Los Angeles. Honestly, for the view and the hospitality, it would have been worth 10 times what I paid. I needed this break from the hustle. It was serene and beautiful.
I will definitely be back only next time I'll take a date. It was peaceful and could be very romantic.
Sunset Ranch, thank you for a memorable afternoon.
Such a wonderful day in Los Angeles. What a gem the Sunset Ranch Hollywood is. My wife and I enjoyed our 10 year anniversary here today. Everyone was so kind to my wife and I. The horses are great, and of course, the views are spectacular. We took the 2 hour ride and went to the Bat Caves.
I can't think of a more romantic way to spend the day with my beautiful wife. Our guide was lovely and gave us so much information that we never knew about the ranch. I would suggest Sunset Ranch to anyone that wants to find something romantic to do in Los Angeles. This really was the best date we have ever had.
Thank you Sunset Ranch Hollywood, your staff gets two thumbs up from us!
I heard about Sunset Ranch from my neighbor who boards a horse up there. I decided to check it out and WOW, what a great place! This is the real deal. I was alone and they put me on a ride with a small group of tourists. We were given a short safety lesson and introduced to our horses. They were such magnificent creatures and sweet!
We were on a two hour ride and I think I know everything there is to know about Griffith Park and Sunset Ranch now. Our guide was very knowledgable and nice, patient. Oh, I forgot the best part - We were so close to the Hollywood sign. It was awesome!!
I give this a 5 star, two thumbs up rating! Check it out, you will be glad you did.
I think I just might be their biggest fan! The only bummer? I am really sore today from riding, but it was worth it and amazing!
The sunset was fantastic to see while riding a horse. We enjoyed the experience of horseback riding, the horses are tamed and well behave. We rented a horse with very affordable price, it's good for the family, friends, lovers. We also took pictures of the mountains and trees.
