Ice skating on July 4th seems like an anomaly, but it is possible here. Boasting one of Los Angeles' best ice rinks, sign up for lessons or just take your favorite date here day for an evening. The former practice site of the NHL's L.A. Kings, you can be rest assured that conditions are absolutely always up to speed.
I admit the skating school is the cheapest around, but complete false advertisement! They claim to give you 10 weeks of lessons, but for the past two sessions I had, they always scheduled a week off for competitions, and they refuse to give any money back or make-up lessons. They don't give out the 2 guest passes they promised nor an actual diploma. I really don't care for the diploma, but the idea is that they are telling us about all these goodies that they will give you but always fail to do so.
This is an old-fashioned ice rink, the only one with a REAL short-order cook at the snack bar: Hamburgers, chili-fries, dogs. It is a rink for families, with lovely coaches who have wonderful credentials and personalities to match. It's place to take the whole gang on a hot summer day and have food, fun, and good company. On top of all that, it looks like it's out of old Hollywood. This place is a one of those well-kept secrets of the "rich and famous", too. You never know who you might see.
