Travel Town Museum

Description

This place is heaven for train-loving tots. An interactive museum in the old-fashioned sense of the word, youngsters can climb in, around or on all the attractions, and many of them will want to do so for hours upon end. Kids can even take a mini train ride for a small fee. The antiques, which include artifacts from trains to classic cars to horse-drawn carriages, showcase the country's railway history—which is especially relevant to California. This museum is a treasure for transportation lovers of all ages.

A great way to kill a couple hours with little kids... for FREE
By ,
I am really surprised that I hadn't heard of this great little place before. The free admission was only a bonus. Our oldest is a little under 3 and she really liked climbing into, on and through all of the trains. The train ride around the park was $2.50 a person and they did 2 laps. It was worth the $7.50 that it cost us (our two 7 month olds were free, below 19 months I believe is the thresh hold). There were 3 or 4 birthday parties going on while we were there. There were plenty of open picnic areas that were first come first served, but there were also train cars that you could reserve for birthdays. Worth spending a couple of hours at, then heading over the hill through Griffith Park to the Merry-Go_round that was $2.00 a person.

Great for young children
By ,
My 1 1/2 year old and 2 1/2 year old daughters love going here. Its free, which is even better. They can climb on a bunch of trains and they always have a great time. For a small fee (about $2, I can't remember exactly) you can take a mini train ride, which they both loved.

We took our 4 year old grandson to Travel Town. After 3 months, he is still talking about it. A hidden treasure - can't believe there is no entrance fee. Would HIGHLY recommend this to any child who loves trains - pack a picnic and head to Travel Town - you will NOT be disappointed!!
