Balboa Fun Zone
This place recalls the days of old when a Saturday night date meant a trip to the local amusement park, complete with a ride on the ferris wheel and a few games of skill where a boy could win a teddy bear for his sweetheart. It opened in 1936 and has remained a Newport Beach institution to this day. It's not that big, so don't count on a full day of activity, but it is a nice place to spend a couple of hours. Nights are especially festive here, so bring the family, a group of friends or a special someone. There is no entrance fee, but each ride requires tickets, with individual prices ranging from USD 1.25-2.50.
HI I'm a teenager born and bread in Newport. The Fun Zone is my stomping grounds! It has everything for a nice day at the beach with awesome restaurants and tours. May I recommend Pizza Pete's and New York Style Pizza??? My favorite places ever. If you visit in the summer, be prepared for the ferry and fun zone to be overcrowded with the Newport Beach Jr. Lifeguards. Make sure to visit the candy store by the carousel!
Better speak spanish. What happened to english as our nations language? The place has changed since I used to hang out there. It is still nice, but the people leave trash behind and the water is getting bad.
Adios, I meant goodbye!
This place is so much fun, a carousel, arcade games- shops, yummy treats. This last time, we went when it was pouring rain and still had a fun time. Our three year old loved it. We took a harbor cruise and watched the sea lions playing. It was so much fun!
The Fun Zone was magic. My Family and I hit the shops, ate the wonderful food, played games, enjoyed the beautiful water and had a great time doing it all! We came through the Fun Zone many times during our stay in Newport.
We use to summer in Newport. In the evening hours, we would walk down to the fun zone so the kids could play games, we could people watch and sometimes we would ride the ferry over to the island and back.
Very fond memories.
