Description:

Hollywood Park Racetrack is located just three miles from LAX and features horse racing. It was opened by Jack Warner of Warner Brothers fame in 1938 and included shareholders such as Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Joan Blondell and Walt Disney. The racetrack has been through a lot including a fire in 1949, but it is still a place where Los Angelenos can enjoy a day or evening with a beer and a dream of winning some money. The racing seasons are April through July and November to December. Check website for details.

Economic concern

I like very much the place. But it seems that the place is so huge and looks like a wasted place for the Warner Brothers who own the place. Is warner brother thinking of putting studios there in the future? Or is this place could be sold for possible playground like baseball park or football park plus racing? I like to see the place bring more revenues in the future. It is just a waste as I see it. Don't you think so?
