Santee Alley
Description
Natives in-the-know refer to this outdoor bazaar as the Alley and here is where you will find a quarter mile of goods of every description and wall-to-wall people in search of the perfect bargain. Here in Santee Alley you will find casual and chic day wear and evening wear. There are all kinds of jewelry concessions as well as menswear, children's clothing, lingerie and toys. If you like the idea of searching through piles and piles of merchandise for the best bargains, among throngs of other people who are doing the same thing, you won't want to miss cruising The Alley.
I love going to the alley with my family. It's a great experience. You can always find the best bargains expecially if you're shopping on a budget like me(lol)
The only dislike that i have is that it's too crowded. I've since learned to adjust to the crowds and always look forward to my next shopping trip.
I love to come here at least a couple of times a year. I can find designer handbags and shoes for cheap that would sell for much more in the Victoria Secret Catalog. I have actually taken the special shoe catalog to the Alley and found several pairs for 20 dollars. I love the belts and the handbags as well. Sometimes you can find good quality knock-off sun glasses, as well as coach hats and purses. It takes some getting use to, because there can be a large amount of people there all in close proximity to one another. Most of the people that shop there are from different ethnicities and many do not speak english. I love to look at it as though I have melded Mexico with Europe and thrown in some Middle Eastern too. A rich experience for the serious shopper and deal seeker!! A must do!
Yes, there are bargains to be found, but the vendors seemed disinterested and bored. The music was loud, beyond the point of just contributing to the atmosphere; it was downright annoying. After visiting the Alley, we went the next day to Tijuana and had a blast; found lots of knockoff purses and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The good folks in Tijuana were having fun, laughing and making jokes, and were very easy to bargain with. Park at the border and take a bus across for $5 per person round trip.
Wow the deals they have are the BEST.You have to be carefull because if you like something that is $30 you can usually get it for $20 you have to know how to lower the price.Be very carefull and never pay the price that they ask for always ask for a lower price.
I really enjoyed shopping at the Santee Alley. You must bargain. Everything I purchased was purchased at a lower price then what they were asking for. Beware, I purchased a fake louie vuitton bag...which I though looked really good but when I arrived home I noticed that the letters on the bag were correct on one side and backwards on the other.
Santee has some of the best deals that I have ever seen anywhere. I love shopping in LA, and being from up north in the Bay Area, shopping over at Santee is always easy on my wallet.
I love "the alley." What fun! Great deals, amazing designer knock-offs. But just a word of warning-its not for the meak or timid shoppers. Some newbies find their first visit a bit intimidating, but really, its wonderful. Great for bartering!
