Description

Founded in 1952, La Mascota Bakery is a slice of Los Angeles' history. The third generation owners serve delicious Mexican delights. Be sure to try out the pan dulce (sweet bread), bobillos (rolls), cookies, cakes and other delicious items. This is an every-morning stop for many locals in the area who come for their daily dose of pastries and cafe con leche. great for pot luck!
By ,
We live on the same block as la Mascota. My husband was born there a couple of years before they opened. For Twenty years I have watched them grow and thrive. I have to remember to take a different street home on holidays because their tamales are so popular. It is our official duty, at family gatherings, to bring the tamales. Now it has been added to my job requirement. It's nice to know I can't miss. They're freway close and open early, so anyone can "swing by" to pick up a real crowd pleaser for work or party.

Absolutely Tasty!
By ,
My husband's Grandmother has been buying tamales from here for decades. They're absolutely tasty! My Holiday parties just cannot meet it's fullest potential unless we have Mascota tamales. Our family seems to be spoiled with the excellent taste of these tamales that no other can compare. Thank you Mascota Bakery!

I used to love their bread, however, last time bread was horrible.
By ,
What has happened to the quality of La Mascota? For over twenty years, I used to love their bread, tamales, menudo. However, I recently bought bread, and my family & I were so dissapointed. The bread was flat & rock hard. I am pretty sure they use more shortening/lard than usual. The 'Conchas' & other bread was more like a cookie & not bready at all. We all took one bite & threw out the rest of the sweet bread.

Great taste but............
By ,
We heard La Mascota Bakery from local news, out of curiousity, the very next day we drove from Marina Del Rey to East L.A, waited about one our in line, bought 5 and 1/2 dozens of tamales, and 6 bottles of hot sauce. Every one in our household like them a lot, my sister, my son, daughter and I agreed that these are the best tamales we have ever tasted, but every one wonders if LARD is one of the ingredient in them. Would like to know about the use of lard if any before we go back and by another 5 and 1/2 dozens.

Definitely the BEST TAMALES in L.A.!!!
By ,
After reading the reviews from this site I had to go to La Mascota Bakery and check it out for myself. I was pleasantly suprised by the inviting appearance of outside of the building. The taste of their tamales, beans & rice made the trip more than worth it! They went above and beyond my expectations and I will Definitely be going back. I love this place!

Best tamales in town
By ,
I always come to Mascota for my tamales (since the early 80s). Usually I get a dozen to take home. My favorite are the chicken tamales. I love their masa.

Love La Mascota
By ,
I have been coming to this place since 1955. I am no longer a frequent customer ecause I live 40 miles away . However; any time I have business in this area I always stop by. The tamales are the best I have had from a store. The ingredients are excellent in quality and quantity. The hired help is quite courteous and the owner is the best. She goes out of the way to make your stay a pleasant one. The bakery istself is the most satisfying I have been to. Much better than the competition. They have done a great job since I have known them
