Located in the downtown Long Beach Harbor, Shoreline Village shopping center features some great shops and restaurants. From here you can also take boat tours of the Long Beach and Los Angeles harbors. Restaurants include The Yard House, Tequila Jack's, Stefano's Pizza, Simmering Pot and Parker's Lighthouse. At night both The Yard House and Tequila Jack's are hopping bars serving hundreds of beers and tequilas.
Took my kids to Shoreline Village and ended up a the All Americana Melodrama Theater. I didn't know what a melodrama was, but it was a blast. The audience boos and cheers the actors. We had a great time.
We found Shoreline Village while looking out of our hotel window. What a find! We had a great dinner at Parker's Lighthouse. Some of the best seafood I have ever eaten and what a view. The real treat was the adorable Melodrama Theater my family and I stumbled upon at the village. The building is so colorful and quaint. It felt like we had ventured into a theater that you might find at Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland. Lots of character. The staff was so nice and welcoming. It turns out that the people serving as our ticket takers and snack bar workers were the actors that would be perfoming on stage. The place was packed with families. All enjoying the live piano music and eating treats. We were stuffed from dinner but found room for peanuts and beer. Try the Villain Ale it really hit the spot. The show was a combination of melodrama and a movie spoof. We loved it! We booed the bad guys and cheered for the hero. We laughed and sang along and couldn't believe we had found this little gem. The price was about that of going to a movie, since the kids were free. Our whole family had a great time. am the ripe old age of 67, and my grandson is 10. We both "had a ball" at this melodrama. It is fitting for all ages and an absolute riot. I would recommend it to everyone with a sense of humor!
