Doc's Ski Haus, Santa Monica

I ordered the Burton Indulgence pants in the color Vain from Doc's Ski Haus website. I paid full price for the pants and when they arrived last night, the back bottoms of the pants were dirty, like they had already been worn. The tags were still on the pants, but they were definitely not new. I hope this has been a mistake, but I do not trust Doc's Ski Haus integrity.

There are two ski shops within one block of each other. The one called Doc's Ski Haus is the newer on. The older original one is now called Santa Monica Ski and Sports. Why the change is confusing but the two stores are very different. I liked the one in the original location (Santa Monica S & S) better because the employees were really into skiing an had no attitude and their clothing selection was better. A guy named Marc or Mike really knew his stuff and tuned my skis better then any of the shops in Aspen, Vail or Mammoth. The other store turned me off, but it may have been the salesperson having a bad hair day or something.

It is truly the only close ski specific shop to Santa Monica. However they charge 50% or more over MSRP. I found a new helmet there I wanted to buy ad it was $360 at Doc's and $179 online!

I can say that Doc's Ski Haus is the best Ski Shop I have experienced. Not only do they sale the best products but the owner, David, stands behind his products. Service was excellent. The staff was courteous and eager to answer any of my questions. The atmosphere was pleasant. The staff is compentent and generously offers great advice. Most business in southern CA. tend to be snobish and could care less about the customer, but at Doc's, they make you feel important and treat you like a true friend. Doc's has regular customer from other countries who visit the store before hitting the slopes. I encourage everyone to visit Doc's Ski Haus to experience the ambiance of a real Ski Store. The new owner has a passion for his business and compassion for his customers and his staff. Even if you are not an avid skier, you should drop by Doc's to experience the great stories the staff has to share after being in business for over 48 years. Also, the owner had a six year old son who always has a smile on his face. His smile is contagious as his Doc's Ski Haus. Thanks for renewing good customer service and I will be back soon and I will continue to send all my family and friends to the best ski store around. By the way, Mammoth stores do not even come close to Doc's.

This is a wonderful little SKI shop. Who in the world would imagine that you could find a shop like this in the middle of Los Angeles. The staff is super friendly, they know what they are talking about, their stock is well supplied, and the space is wonderful. I had been here once before, a few years ago. It was nice then, but now it's even better. Apparently it is not under new management. They did some remodeling and the place is beautiful. The new owner seems so eager to help and please. I can't say enough good things about Doc's Ski Haus. They are why I'll be hitting the snow this year on decent equipment.

This shop has got some hot girls working there who helped us out to the full extent buying our ski jackets. We got full service. We are never buying ski gear at the mountain again.

It was surprising to find a true ski shop so far from the mountains. This shop has been open for a long time, almost 50 years. A lot of history. Really knowledgeable staff. I bought boots, which were fit by someone who knew a lot about fitting ski boots. He spent over an hour just with me. These are my fifth pair of boots since I started skiing, and I think they are my best. This guy made all sorts of modifications. Very impressive. The rest of the shop looked good too. A lot of stuff, though I didn't look around too much. Later I checked prices. Same as internet prices.

I have visited ski shops around the country from New York City to Chicago to San Fran and all the mountain town shops between. This shop had the most flavor and character of any ski shop. Classic posters and equipment on the wall and the folks there where super cool. All of the equipment is pretty much the same as it is at any high end shop and the prices where at retail or street prices. I work in the ski business so I did not really need to buy anything but I did pick up a doc's ski shop hat.

big 5 shoppers,low budjet shoppers,real flat landers, stay away,this shop is for the real skier. tech, support you can not beat experince,the safety, thanks to doc i still can walk and ski. oh yea to the putz with the bad talk ,see you at the bottom,never at the top

They will lie to you if you give off the appearance that you don't know anything about skiing. I did research on some ski products and they told me that those same products were not as good as the one's they carry. The reason for this is that they didn't carry the products. All i can say is don't shop here unless you know exactly what you want. Do some internet research or buy from ski shops in Mammoth.
