i travel a great deal and always look for book shops and museums.i have been to toronto and florida often and find them excllent for browsing and bying. however,gdc has the ambience and charm. I bought 8 books and asked for a box. Samantha asked if i would liked to have them shipped w/o shipping charges only mail cost.what a breath of fresh air. we chatted a bit and i left and i shall return. She is a charmer and the book selection was great. rms

I love Gene de Chene. Admittedly, I am a book addict. However, I still have my preferences for sources of my supply. Gene de Chene is a warm, welcoming place. Books are well categorized, and kept in alphabetical order by subject. Even when I attempt to stop by for just a moment, I can't seem to leave without bags of delicious books. The owner/manager, Samantha, is knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and kind. For anyone searching for a new dig- I highly recommend Gene de Chene for your next literary fix.

I walked into Gene de Chene Booksellers and was delighted to find myself in the midst of a roomy place, brimming full of new and rare old books, beautifully organized and run by knowledgable, kind people. I stayed far longer than expected and came home with unintended treasures I savored. A must visit!

This store has character and pizazz. I like the irreverent subject headings like, like "oddities,""stuff we like," and "the atrocities section." The store has a definite focus on all-things-art and people's histories of all stripes & colors. The international flavor is earthy, the help is warm and knowledgable and the low prices rock!
