Vintage Tea Leaf, Long Beach

I have been a few times and I always enjoy the tea. For the most part the food is excellent, although I think I had one stale sandwich. I always buy loose tea to bring home - but it seems to take too long at the counter to get any service. All in all, one of the best tea houses I have been too. A fun experience for any ladies day out.

I'd have to say out of all the tea places I've ventured to, this is my all time favorite. I went here as my first time for my birthday, never having experienced such an event, and I was hooked. Thank God for my wonderful friend Renee. The menu, ambiance, and staff makes it so very, very special for me and my guests every time I revisit the Vintage Tea Leaf.

We had a suprise party here and had a great time. The food was pretty good and well presented. The hats and boas were adorable. Our only complaint was the short, rude temperament of the owner/waitress. She made blatantly insulting comments to several members of our party and after reading several reviews on other sites this was not an isolated incident.

From the moment you walk in the door (you might want to call ahead for reservations) you will be greeted by the friendly staff and most probably the Tea Mistress, Beverley, herself.

A truly Victorian parlor setting, service on antique bone china, fresh flowers on each table...

The ceremony or ritual of tea service begins as you enter... you go to choose your own tea cup from a vast selection of cups... match your mood, match your personality, match your clothes... you decide... There is a very large selection of hats and boas to choose from to make your tea experience more fun.

Mistress Beverley blends most all of the teas into custom blends that are truly magical. For tea purists there are the requisite "standard" teas (though of the highest quality).

For the tea services you may choose a simple tea and sandwich selection, or enjoy the "tea of decadance" including tea, 8 sandwiches, fresh homemade mushroom soup (yum yum) or a tea room salad with field greens rice and cranberries (yum). There are also other daily selections prepared... Two fresh baked scones with cream and lemon curd are served.... And to round out a wonderful meal for the senses... Fresh homemade lush rich desserts; cakes, puddings, tortes, crepes... selections chosen and prepared by the tea mistress... so you have a new choice whenever you go...

Call and make a reservation and transport yourself into another time and place and era..... sit back, relax, enjoy the ambiance and service and choose from a vast number of teas and tea services... you may find yourself there much longer than you could ever have thought you would be there. Time seems to stand still within the Tea Room and the gentle music keeps you harbored away from the reality of the hustle and bustle outside.
