Perhaps the best way to spend a summer evening in Los Angeles is at this huge amphitheater, Hollywood Bowl, that offers jazz, pop and classical concerts for all citizens, regardless of social status or wealth. The sound quality is excellent from any point, although binoculars are suggested. The summer home of the L.A. Philharmonic since 1922 and the home of its very own Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since 1991, numerous guest stars from Itzhak Perlman to Tony Bennett perform their selections in this much loved, relaxed concert alternative.

So much fun!
By Kelly, 09/24/05
The Hollywood Bowl is a great place to take a date. Seat prices range from $7 to $80, but the $7 seats are just as good (sound wise) as those closer up. The wonderful part about the Bowl is that you can bring in food. They have picnic areas set up all around the area and you are allowed to bring food into the stadium. Even if you're not that much of a music fan this place is a must do for tourists. The atmosphere is fantastic-the fans excited and the view terrific! Even from the cheap seats you can see the Hollywood sign perfectly. And once the lights go out and it starts to get dark it is amazing how secluded and relaxing this spot is. No matter what your musical tastes are, from Disney music to Mozart, there is a venue for you!

Exceptional

If you're a fan of music on any level, you must visit the Hollywood Bowl. The Hollywood Bowl always has a varied, exciting program schedule, especially their summer concert series. This year, they had everything from video game music, to Disneyland music, to Tchaikovsky and others. The great thing about the bowl is that you can get tickets anywhere from $4.00 to $120.00 depending on how close to the stage you want to be. And even in the $4.00 section, the sound is beautiful, you just might need binoculars to see anyone on the stage. You can also bring picnic baskets in and have some great food or wine while you're enjoying the show. WARNING: The parking at the Hollywood Bowl is HORRENDOUS. The only type of parking they have on-site is "stacked" parking, where you are pinned in and you have to wait for everyone ahead of you to leave before you can. You really should park somewhere off-site and use the Metro transit to get to the bowl. Pro-Tip: Get on the metro red-line and get off at the Hollywood & Vine station. There is a shuttle that leaves every 15-30 minutes for 3 hours before the show starts that will take you right to the gates of the Hollywood Bowl. Afterwards, you can either take the shuttle back or walk to the Hollywood & Highland metro station which is about a 15 minutes downhill walk. If you park at the Bowl, you'll be waiting for hours to leave.
