The Key Club is one of the most popular clubs in Los Angeles right now and for good reason - it has great music, food and atmosphere. On Friday and Saturday nights, you can dance the night away for the admission price of USD20. The club is located in an historic building and is an upscale spot attracting a trendy clientele. There are two levels, decorated in a high-tech, futuristic style. When you tire of dancing, sample the continental California cuisine by acclaimed executive chef Jeff Haines. There is also a full bar and an extensive wine list.
***KEY CLUB DISCRIMINATES*** My cousin and I had VIP tickets. We never got a chance to meet E-40. We were told to leave a table by a guy name Rudy who works at the Key Club. Rudy said the table was reserved. I explained to Rudy I called earlier to see if I had to make reservations. I was told as long as we buy bottles reservations were not needed. Rudy said this table is reserved. You have to move. You can order bottle service at the bar. I told the waitress not to serve you. You have to move. Not trying to give Rudy a hassle. I went to the bar to order bottle service, and was told by the bartender we do not serve bottles at the bar, that's for table service only. Who told you that? I never heard of that. So she said if you talked to that guy down there (black guy with a ponytail). She didn't know his name. Don't talk to him, talk to Rudy or Victor. So my cousin and I were mad we have been removed from a table, was lied to about bottle services. So I spoke to the black guy with the ponytail. Who tried to diffuse the situation. He really tried. But Rudy is mean. He went and got Rudy and talked with him. So the guy told my cousin after he talked to Rudy. He told Rudy these people are willing to spend money. Why not make some money? So Rudy said if the people don't show up by 10pm they can have the table. Now Rudy is a liar , it was pass 10pm. But your telling me if the people don't show up at 10pm, we could have the table. I'm going to need Rudy to get a watch before he lies to someone again. So then Rudy told the guy to ask us did we know the prices of the bottles. He said the prices start at $325.00. Apparently I was aware of this we were sitting at the table, with a menu about to order. So I left. I said Key Club will not get my money. I don't support discrimination. Was it because I was black? I was not flashing jewelry, or wearing an expensive purse, or dressed like a skank. I don't know what Rudy's problem was. It was my cousins birthday. I'm very mad, because discrimination is not cool.
They advertise Valet parking for $6 (they have a HUGE sign on the corner that says so) but when you drive up, the lady charged us $10!! Park somewhere else where they honor their advertised price, like across athe street for $8.
The event we went to was $9 (Battle of the Corporate Bands) and the drinks are $10. Vince Vaughn was apparently around the area and stopped by (I think he knew one of the bands, maybe 2nd Shift). We enjoyed everything except for the parking incident.
