Earthly Goods, Berkeley

Earthly Goods is one of my favorite stores and has been for many years. The store is well organized and the sales people are helpful and warm. I have only had positive visits throughout the years as far as customer service.

In response to the first reviewer who said the staff "couldn't be bothered" to help them - are you joking?!? The women and girls who work here are some of the most helpful and friendly people I have ever met. If they couldn't help you, they were most likely either extremely busy/short-staffed, you didn't express that you needed help with something or you were being rude. (Sorry but that's the truth.) The buyers & owners are actually at the store most days, but everyone on staff is pretty knowledgable about the products and lines they are selling, and are more than willing to help you find what you need (except sometimes on Saturdays when it's a madhouse in there). Earthly Goods appeals to a wide variety of customers, which is also nice, and the shoe department is great as well. In short - large botique, nice family owned buisness, helpful staff, I like it.

What an unBerkeley experience to try to shop in this store! You'd think you were in a snotty boutique with the staff's attitude (they can't bother to help you), which is so unlike other stores in this community. The merchandise is an unusual mix of "women of a certain age wearing elastic wastebands" and "I wannabe be a style victim" with little in between. The combination of staff with attitude and limited selection/sizes is enough to drive you to Peet's Coffee or the wine shop up the street.
