Sometimes you want a Louisiana link that sends your tongue on a one-way trip to New Orleans, a decent kosher frank. That is what the owner wanted when he opened up this small stand: a taste of New York's famous ethnic sausages from its German, Italian and Polish neighborhoods. And they ship bulk orders around the world, too! Not surprisingly, this joint is a hit with local students grabbing a quick bite between classes or a satisfying break during a late-night study session. Place your order at the front and hang out while waiting for your link. Lemon Chicken, Kielbasa and the turkey "Bird Dog" are among the several appetizing selections. Cash only.
I walked in Sunday - I ordered four dogs (two Hot Links and Two Tops w/no buns) and the man behind the Wolf Grill charged me for two!!! A honest mistake, but I visit Top Dog everytime I visit Berkeley and I fork a lot of $$$ anyway so it was nice of him. Life is Good...Eat at Top Dog!!! Peace - JG
This place has the variety, the taste, and on durant, the atmosphere. not just for good...great place to talk. You will just have to stand. No worries... better to stand so you dont get mustard on your pants.
I'm not big on hotdogs, but this place is great. Plus, I've been going there since I was a freshman over 10 years ago, and some of the same guys work there, which is nice b'c it's like going back to see family (sort of). It's a great, quick snack after running through a few Berkeley pubs/bars.
I am a UCB grad. class of 81.
Loved it then, love it now.
Was there last week, the football team
could use some help. Get dogs to go
and BBQ them for a special event. In 1980
I went with some girlfriends in our PJs.
I think we did it more than once. We lived up the block. Quick, easy and always good.
