Located on the west side of town, you can smell Chips' mouth-watering aroma from blocks away. Chow down on baby-back ribs or a generous pork sandwich with sides of coleslaw and beans. Be sure to save room for a slice of one of the homemade pies. Chips is a down-to-earth place in the heart of a booming chain restaurant area. Choose a booth or table, and then walk up to the window to place your order. Come with a good appetite and bring cash, Chips does not accept checks or credit cards.
Chip's is awesome because it is so down-to-earth good. The food is fresh, and REAL. The folks running the counter are family, and they really care about their products. They will make a believer out of you when they hand you your food. They make their sauce right there, and pie, too. As far as expensive goes? Well, I guess other restaurants know what their food is worth. Good grief, have you been to the grocery store lately? For me, I don't think these folks are out to rip anyone off. They cook real food. I'm just glad that there is still a place like this that cooks real food. It's well worth it to me to have real cooking available, instead of something from a chain that has food that pretty much all tastes the same. I'm a a regular, and have to eat there at least once a week. And it's not just BQ. They make potato soup and have really good burgers. I think I'm getting hungry.
I was visiting LR last week with some friends & one of them recommended that we grab some bbq to go from Chips. The bbq was terrific, but what really blew me away was the pie. Try the pineapple - it is absolutely amazing!
I've been going to Chips for years, always get the same thing every time, so I might not able to tell you about the rest of the menu items. However, they have the best BBQ in town byfar. I get a jumbo BBQ beef sandwich with a huge bowl of cheese dip. The dip is awesome and the Hot BBQ sauce is perfect. It makes me sweat a little but I am addicted to it. The only draw back to Chips is that it doesn't serve beer, only soft drinks and tea. Also the price is a little high. Once you've had Chips BBQ, you will always compare others to it and they will never match up. Simply the best. But they need to lower the prices a bit.
Its been years since I've been to Chips! I went yesterday and was glad I did. I think I will go back today! The hot pork BBQ sandwich was great. You know one of those days when nothing sounds good and you think (hmmm I think I will try BBQ today) Well it hit the spot. It was hard to pick between the Pork BBQ and the footlong. BBQ won out. The hot sauce was just right for my taste. I think I will go back today and try the footlong. The price was a little high (11.34 for large bbq, fries, beans and a drink), but the food was worth it. No table service, so no need for a tip, I guess it all works out. Nice Treat.
