Whole Hog Cafe & Catering Co.
This award-winning restaurant is already quite successful. Its delicious pulled pork, baby-back ribs and beef brisket are bringing in call after call for catering orders, and the cafe is always full. The cafe uses a cute pig motif to keep the place fun, with pig curtains, aprons and tablecloths. The service is extremely friendly and accommodating. Catering is available for all your corporate or other celebrations.
I was lucky to visit the Whole Hog when I was visiting Arkansas from Connecticut the begining of this week. The Whole Hog platter was so good I had to go back the next day and get another. I also Ordered a pound of the pulled pork and a bottle of sauce to go froze the meat and am enjoying it in Connecticut. I shared a bite with a co-worker, That was all he was getting of it.
Better then any I have had in Memphis and other places.
As Californians on vacation (California is a BBQ wasteland!), we are driving home from the East Coast through the South and trying BBQ in several states. Without a doubt Whole Hog is the best we've found. We ate ribs and the sliced beef sandwiches, slaw, potato salad and sweet tea. Everything was wonderful. The various BBQ sauces were great. It's self-serve and as such the service for this type of eatery is fine. If it's ambiance you want, go elsewhere. It's casual, clean and the display of BBQ awards is all the ambiance you really need. Coming from Califrnia and after visiting New York City, the prices are great.
I wish this place made some of their products available over the web, so we could enjoy the food in California.
My wife and i started eating there 2 years ago, we try to make it back atleast twice a month. Ive had everything on menu and you can't go wrong from pork loin to nachos, this is the best bar-b-q in the area. #1 sauce is awesome.
Whole Hog is a ritual for each trip back to Little Rock; I've had the best Austin, Memphis, KC, Tuscaloosa, Dooly Co. Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Kentucky have to offer, and Whole Hog wins by a wide margin. Whether it be a slab of ribs, or my personal favorite, a pulled pork sandwich, slathered with one of a six-pack of regional sauces, you can not go wrong. It is worth a trip to Arkansas on its own!
This is a great place to eat BBQ. The food is excellent. I gave it an "average" for service because it is totally self serve, but what do you expect? It's BBQ not steak. The time between when you order, and when you actually get your food is extremely fast. One warning however, you will leave the restaurant with a strong hickory smoke smell.
You can't find better BBQ anywhere in the world! REALLY! Even though I'm a Yankee, I've eaten my share of slow-cooked, smoke-infused meats. This beats them all. Sure, you can find a fancier place, more ambiance, and table service... if that's what's important, go find it. If what you're really looking for is the best darned BBQ, then you've found the spot. And if the meat isn't tempting enough on it's own, then try one of the many sauces... From mustard tangy and molasses sweet to hot and (really really) "nuclear" HOT (ask for the habenero-based sauce from behing the counter, but be prepared!). You'll have a hard time choosing a favorite.
It's simple, no-frills, with counter service, but this is EVERYTHING BBQ is meant to be!
Whole Hog Cafe gets really busy during lunch with the nearby big corporations using up a majority of their large selection of tables. But a few extra minutes in line is worth the short wait for your plate to be delivered. The food is amazing and the sauces are incredible. The price isn't dissagreable either.
