A Jewel In The Desert

I accidentally heard about the Franklin Museum just before we headed from Alaska to see spring around the U.S. The museum is not the easiest place to find. The compound is tucked in the center of some chaparral covered land and looks much like it could be a well off persons home and out buildings. It was well worth the effort. About three or four buildings in Spanish desert style are clustered together on a few acres. Inside these buildings youll find the best collection of Franklin air cooled cars I have ever seen. The interior is well laid somewhat crowded but filled with beautifully restored Franklin cars of all styles.
The museum seems to be run by volunteers and is a little loose on schedules. We arrived on a week day when they were closed but drove a hundred miles back two days later. It was miles well spent. Nice people, knowledgeable and very pleasant. You wont be disappointed if you like to look at restored cars. I real surprise in the desert.
