Tohono Chul Park

Description

This park on Tucson's northwest side is a very civilized piece of the Sonoran desert in the city, with a wide variety of desert plants around pleasant trails, which lead visitors to a gift shop and a shaded tea room serving delicious scones for tea time. Regular "Walk in the Park" tours provide an educational experience about the park's fauna and flora.

Tohono Chul better than Tucson Botanical Gardens
By Jane, 3/24/10
We loved this place. Big, spacious, beautiful. The docents are everywhere and very friendly and informative. We ate at the Tea Room which was lovely. Beautiful setting good food. Get the Prickly Pear Margarita. Yum. If you can eat first you will receive a 2 for 1 admission to the Park.

Lunch Menu \"BIG\" Disappointment & Overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/10
Love the atmosphere, but remember when they had such a unique menu with normal to higher prices. Now they have the same old stuff on their menu that so many other restaurants have plus their prices for what they offer is absurd to where we can't afford to eat there anymore.

Great Park
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/08
The Tea Room is OK, but the real gem is the Park itself. There are beautiful trails lined with native plants that really dispel the notion that the desert isn't colorful. They also have rotating art exhibits up all year round in a few different galleries, so you're bound to see something new with each visit. If you're not from the Southwest, this is a great, inexpensive place to visit to learn all about it (just grab one of the docents along the path) and if you are from the Southwest, like me, it's the best place to learn about desert gardening I have ever seen.

Overrated - blah food!
By noproblem, 1/21/08
This place is seriously overrated and over-priced - a tourist trap. Locals don't eat here because there are dozens of restaurants in the area that put theirs to shame. High prices. Poor quality....

Breakfast with the hummingbirds!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/06
Love the Tearoom. Delightful outdoor (or indoor...) or courtyard dining. Sumptuous breakfasts - great coffee - friendly service. Walk in the tearoom garden - small but loaded with Tucson's beautiful array of desert plants. Brought my 6 & 12 year old grandchildren, and they behaved because it was so interesting and they could 'take a walk' between ordering food and its delivery. Great experience. I go back frequently.
