Kon Tiki is truly a departure from the abundance of Mexican and Continental American restaurants around Tucson. It's the only major restaurant in Tucson featuring Hawaiian cuisine. Two flaming torches and a wooden tribal figurine guard the front entrance and the interior walls are fashioned with bamboo sticks, as expected. The lighting is subdued and intimate. Traditional Hawaiian cuisine is served including plentiful teriyaki chicken dishes, with vegetable medleys and pineapple garnishes. And yes, the restaurant serves a variety of fruity alcoholic beverages with paper umbrellas.

2 reviews for Kon Tiki
Rude service and disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/06
So I had been to Kon Tiki about a year ago and had a wonderful time. Had enjoyed the food and drinks. But a couple weeks ago I had the worst experience ever that I had ever had in a restaurant/bar. First off I went to use the restroom and the toilets were covered in urine. The trash can was past overflowing all over the counter and floor! My friends and I ordered our drinks and one of them did not taste right so we told the the waitress. She was very rude and didn't seem to care at all. So we asked for the manager who was worse than she was. He seemed to be attacking us and said that we should probably leave since we did not like the drink. He said that all of the other customers were happy and that was what mattered. Horrible customer service!! So do not go there unless you like being treated like trash.

Poor Substitute for Polynesia
By John K., 12/07/05
The Polynesian-inspired interior of the bar has not been updated, from the look of it, in decades. Have the owners ever thought of re-investing in their business? Dark and dingy and poorly maintained, the drinks are just as insipid and uninspiring as the rest of the place. If you've ever enjoyed a tasty Mai Tai in Waikiki, don't come here, keep your pleasant memories intact and save your money for a trip to the real thing.
