Rene at Tlaquepaque
Within the picturesque Tlaquepaque Village, this upscale eatery is perfect for celebrating special occasions and impressing visitors. The elegant cuisine is prepared under the direction of Executive Chef Walter Paulson and is served with the utmost attention to detail. The signature dish is the Colorado Rack of Lamb ala Rene for two, carved tableside. An exceptional wine list offers quite a few selections in the USD25-40 per bottle range. Note that personal checks are not accepted.
We had reservations at 7, but got 10 minutes late (hard to find parking). No problem. We were sat at a booth at the end of the restaurant close to the kitchen door. No view or the rest of the restaurant. I ordered the rack of lamb ($37), medium done, the restaurant specialty. The meat was good, but was very, very rare. So I sent it back twice, not because they asked us but because we cached the waitress in a fly. In the mean time, my husband ravioli were getting cold, not that they cared. We shared a dessert, nothing outstanding, and then finished our bottle of wine. I didnt realized we were the last ones in the restaurant. It was close to 10 PM, to my surprise, but I saw the waitress walking by in so much a desperate hurry that I felt the urge to leave. When we realized how late it was, we went out and picked out coats and said thank you, ready to apologize and explain we didnt realized to the 3 people at the barone of them the person that took our reservation and welcomed to the restaurant. The look they gave us was so cold and hard that I will never come back to that restaurant again. I am sure they will be happy and I will have no problem finding a place to spend $200 where I feel welcome and if necessary I will be reminded politely of the time with no fuss.
I still feel awful. Thanks, but not, thanks.
